Looking for something to listen to

I have a job where I can listen to YouTube or podcasts all night. I want to use that time to learn Korean. I have used an app called Pimsleur and I found the content to be okay but not amazing. It’s also something that you have to pay for. I would say my Korean is between total beginner and intermediate. Any suggestions?

Am eligible for Area Manager?

I currently work as a seasonal warehouse associate as something to just keep me afloat while looking for something better. I do have a bachelor degree but it’s older and thus I don’t think I meet the criteria of university hire. As a white badge, I understand that I have to apply as an external hire. I have work experience at more corporate environments prior to working at warehouse but don’t have managerial experience, at least not by title. Do you think I would be considered for L4 role?

If not, can’t I just enroll at WGU for a quick second degree to make myself eligible for university hire?

Is Help Desk the closest thing to data center technician?

Whenever I see job posts for data center technicians, they're very similar to help desk roles: ticketing, setting up servers/hardware, networking, troubleshooting, etc. The certifications sought in help desk are also sought in data center: comptia and ccna. Can help desk experience be counted as data center experience?

L2 is entry level with no tech experience break into data centers whereas L3 you’re supposed to have 2+ YOE. But the pay difference is I think only like $6/hour. I have read that L2 pretty much does what L3 does after you get trained up after 6 months.

I ask because L2 is probably much easier to get into. After you get promoted to L3, jump ship to a different data center for much better pay. My only worry is that I would get blacklisted from ever working at AWS again for quiting.

Do you guys still get notifications if there are VET opportunities? I used to get them real-time when I worked at a delivery station. But since coming to a FC, I don't seem to be getting notifications yet when I go to the Atoz app I see these shifts taken with "full" or "opportunitiy expired". Am I really supposed to manually check the app frequently?

Is it possible to work at another site for VET while being employed at another site already? I swear I met a couple of people who clocked in at 2 different sites but not sure if it was a special circumstance. If it is possible how do I sign up?

Is it dumb to join Air Force national guard just to get top secret clearance? Top secret clearance would make a big difference in my career. I know there are companies that say they can sponsor civilians, but from my experience this rarely plays out. I am not sure how else I could realistically get TS clearance.

I honestly can’t tell. I know sometimes there are special circumstances, but generally speaking is VET (assuming it’s offered) announced at a consistent schedule? I am always trying to grab at least 1 VET shift per week but everybody at my site is very quick.

I am trying to break into a data center technician role. I found a vendor who works with AWS. I was also planning to apply on Amazon website for the L3 data center role. Not sure if I am allowed to apply to both and see who I get in with first.

The contractor role is only for 3 months but the pay is almost $34/hr, which is higher than L3 role (I think they get paid $29/hr). I don't really care about the money. I just want to break into the field and I think the contractor route looks much easier as the interview process and requirements seem to be easier.

Is the transition from green badge to full time easy assuming you put in the work? What do you guys think?

I am preparing for interviews, and was wondering... I understand that you answer with the STAR method, but are there other rules to follow? Do your stories have to be recent examples, for instance? Do your stories have to show measurable impact? Are you not allowed to re-use (tailored slightly different maybe) your LP story to another interviewer? Any other guidance on the matter? Do interviewers follow some kind of rubric to rank your answers? Thank you

I will be interviewing for a data center technician position L3 and need help preparing for interview. I understand that behavioral questions are big. Anything technical I should prepare for?

I have some tech experience with professional web development and have built custom computers as a hobby. I want to pivot to data center technician but not sure how to be seen as a candidiate. I am hungry and willing to get certifications to make myself stand out. I am also willing to move across the country.

I considered doing WBLP through AWS. But despite not having direct experience on my resume for data center technician work, I feel I am a little overqualified from talking to some people.

What would you do in my shoes? How do I get seen by recruiters?

I have some web development experience and I have a bachelor in accounting. I was a career changer who self taught myself to program. I am interested in pursuing adjacent roles now and leave software altogether. The job market for software dev is very rough and I don’t think it’ll improve in the foreseeable future. Is it any different for business analysis?

Max has slightly more pay and more OT shifts.

I assume max has much more "lifers". If they have more lifers, then they have more inmates who don't have as much incentives to behave or comply. Also max has more violent inmates so the stress level is probably higher. Inmates are more difficult and dangerous.

Medium seems to have more "posers" where inmates act tough but it's really for show to get respect from their peers. Maximum has legitamate inmates where you need to make sure you have your eyes on them. With that said though, inmates at medium have some incentives to not be violent during prison as that can make them go to max.

Max has much less inmate movement.

What do you guys think is the easier setting to work, medium or max? Which do you guys prefer if you had a choice?
