Human use at Amazon
why we can’t choose where we want to work.
I got forced to work in AFE every day but my home path is pick and they say safety rotation. knowing that I can stow and count too but they force me to go to AFE. Liter feels like they’re using me.
Reminder to take a PLOA if you are BURNING OUT
You know who you are: no PTO, low UPT, tired of going to work. If you are able to save up to afford expenses during a PLOA, DO IT. You will come back a different person. You are given around 80 days of PLOA per year as a blue badge IFIAK. I have asked a few people at work who have told me that they are burning out if they have ever thought about a PLOA and they had no idea it even existed which is why I'm posting this to let more people know
Medical accomodations
Does HR tend to give a lot of pushback for them? How ling did it take you to get it approved? I just had my dr submit an accommodation to allow me to wear my own footwear yesterday. I have 3 compression fractures in my spine and after trying 4 pairs of shoes and 5 different insoles, i still cant hang with the pain its causing.
What position does he do?
I seen an old man with a cain that was walking SUPER slow inch by inch walking into the break room…..what position could he possibly do??? I can’t even think of one at my warehouse
Therapy Dogs at My building
I’ve never seen or heard of Amazon doing this event. Today they had a Mutts On A Mission event from 12 - 1:30 PM. These therapy dogs came with their lovely owners and they all were so happy to meet people and getting pets. There were three other cuties that didn’t make it on video. This honestly made my day so much better and I want to share the joy!
Each owner hands out a card or a sticker with the dog’s face and fun facts about the dog on it. I only got two of them.
Never a dull night scrolling on the VOA board 🤣
Only came on for shits and giggles and someone literally shit in their station at my FC 💀🤣 I’m weak asab
To the people who can still go to the gym after working at Amazon, how?
How do you still have the energy? Please tell me the secret because I want to do this but I'm so burnt out at the end of my 10 hour shift.
Your package is out for delivery
On Mackinac Island in Michigan they deliver packages like this because there are no cars on the island.
Denied MLOA and they never took UPT?
I work at an SSD in Michigan and I had a MLOA for March 5th and it was denied so I should have gotten 10 hrs taken. It’s now may 19th and still never took the UPT away. Am I good? lol
if you use Lyft/Uber as transportation, how much do you spend a week/month?
I don’t have a car, walking isn’t an option because I work in an unsafe part of Detroit & public transport sucks.
I spend on average $20 each way(I only live 12 mins away), which is $240 a week(I have to work OT) or $960 a month which is more than 1 of my checks before taxes. It’s incredibly depressing to think that for everyday I work, I have to spend 2 hours worth of pay.
Anybody else in a similar situation?
Nobody tells you how much the first two weeks actually break you down before it gets easier.
I remember showing up the first week thinking I was in decent shape and that it was just going to be a warehouse job, like how hard could it really be. By day three my feet were done. Not sore, done. I was going home and just sitting there not wanting to move. Legs hurt, back hurt, parts of my body I didn’t think about before were making themselves known. I was convinced I had made a mistake taking the job.
But nobody really warns you that the first two weeks are basically just your body figuring out how to exist in that environment. The concrete floors, the constant movement, the pace, all of it hits different when you’re not used to it. And you’re also still learning where everything is, trying to not fall behind on rate, trying to figure out the unspoken rules of your specific building and your specific shift, all at the same time. It’s a lot hitting you at once.
Around week three something just kind of clicked. Feet stopped hurting as bad. I knew my area. I stopped overthinking the scanner. The shift started going faster because I wasn’t spending half of it being confused or in pain. It doesn’t magically become easy but it becomes manageable in a way that the first two weeks make you think it never will.
If you just started and you’re reading this from your car on break wondering if it gets better, it does for most people. Get good insoles, drink more water than you think you need, and just survive the first two weeks. Your body will figure it out.
Jeff Bezos says bottom half of U.S. earners should pay no federal income tax
cbsnews.comWhole system have shut down mid shift I’m wondering if they’ll send us home due to the entire building being coded
Haven’t scanned in over a hour now just send us home already 😩
Tooth setting off metal detector?
Hey all, I got stopped through the detector today, I took off all of my jewelry and had nothing in my pockets or anything. Still. Beep beep!
I ask the guy, jokingly, if it's my silver tooth I have. He says yes. Is that seriously possible? If so, what do I do? He could've been kidding, the guy is a blank slate and I can never tell what he's feeling. Regardless, he said it and I'm curious. I can't just remove it, my tooth was cracked in half from an injury. I know this is absolutely ridiculous, I know how metal detectors work which is why I'm so skeptical. I literally had nothing else metal on me. I even took of my shoes.
18-21 Whats your opinion on working in the warehouse for you?
I'm 18yo and started working for amazon a month ago, its my first actual job ever.
Personally, I think the work itself is fine, It's pretty boring and has me staring at the clock but I just put my earbuds in and listen to music or watch YT. Plus, I get paid more then my friends do and since I work flex part time, I get to work whenever I want. So I guess compared to other part time jobs I got a pretty good one.
My only dislike is that im the youngest person in my building and its hard to talk to anyone when everyone's a decade or more older than me lol, the only people I've become acquainted with have been the people I were trained with since they were closer to me in age, but they're also flex so we never see each other.
I'll like to hear other people's opinions about working at amazon this young.
