Attending CC or a 4 year uni

Hi everyone

I didn’t expect to be on this subreddit until lately. For most of high school, I have had decent grades and kept up with a 3.8 GPA. However, I made the mistake of overloading my junior year with APs and not putting in enough effort as needed to pass these classes. My mental health and care for academics have plummeted and I don’t know what to do. As a result, I’m wondering if I should first attend CC or a “mid” 4 year state university. My grades are As with the exception of a D-, B-, and a B with 2 weeks of school remaining.

I’m struggling with a few core subjects such as science and math when I want to major in a STEM field.( I am not a Cali resident) Was also wondering IF I should even go to CC.

There are some cons I’m considering with CC (not limited to):

  • Credits may be hard to transfer, and you might be held back a year which is something I oppose
  • Not as many opportunities and resources to gain research, internships, networking etc etc
  • Pls list any more if there is even a little I am trying to be open about this decision

Cons to a “mid” state school:

  • Costs more
  • Will probably regret committing to a state uni just because it’s a 4 year
  • Pls list any more if there is even a little I am trying to be open about this decision

Please let me know your thoughts and opinions, thanks everyone!

Yes, I know this is unlikely (I’m feeling optimistic for some reason) but I got a 28/50 an a practice MCQ

My weakest units are just about the ones in the middle 3-6 so asides from practice MCQs what else can I do???? FRQs might lower my score so please let me know what I can do to scratch a 4

Any advice would be much appreciated

Hi everyone

I’m a current junior in high school and debating what to major in college. After reading a few posts about public health not being a viable major in the present/future, I was wondering what I could pursue as it was originally my first choice.

Because I want to prioritize a stable job outlook/guaranteed job (although it’s hard for even any major), I wanted to know if I should major in chemistry, biology, or engineering with a plan to become a physician or physician assistant. Currently, I’m leaning towards PA. However because it’s subject to change, I wanted a major that could be more applicable to other fields of study that earn more.

Engineering (specifically material science or mechE) is a choice b/c of my interest in chemistry.. not so much math though. Chemistry also doesn’t seem to have promising jobs with decent pay as I want to hopefully earn 75k+ after graduation and ~140k+ in the LONG run.

I’m still not sure completely if I should go into healthcare or pursue an engineering degree. My thoughts are that an engineering degree gets you out of school faster (4 years in college) and with less debt compared to becoming a physician assistant or MD. You can increase your salary as you move up roles too, whereas the salary for PAs are pretty much capped at 120k while you’re over 100k in debt.

Please let me know your thoughts, thank you so much!!
