I’m a university student and got offered a respectable placement job on September 1st. My friends want to book a vacation September 3rd-9th. Is this a bad first impression?

So I got a call last week offering me a one year student internship beginning on September 1st, which I agreed to.

Just yesterday I was made aware of plans to go on a group vacation from September 3rd-9th, and it seems like an experience I don’t want to miss.

However, I don’t want my first impression to be that of a skiver. Am I setting myself up to be unfavored by taking this holiday on such short notice and so soon into the job?

TL;DR - I’ve been offered to go on a group vacation just a couple days after I start my new job. Should I decline to avoid a bad first impression?

Social anxiety is stopping me from taking part in my passion of BJJ.

I’m 23 years old and have been in and out of bjj gyms for years now. 5 different gyms. 100 different classes. But I can never make it a routine.

I’m a shy person, and I find the social aspect of BJJ intimidating. If I can’t get a technique right during drilling I find it awkward. I don’t know whether to talk? Be quiet? Talk about BJJ? Talk about life?

Sometimes I feel judged.

Does anyone else deal with this? How can I move past this? I love the sport and it’s holding me back

I’m stuck in a cycle. I have no hobbies or identity, how do I find it?

I’m a 23 year old male. My day-to-day life is pretty much working, then coming home and watching TV and playing video games, I’ve become comfortable with this life.

Up until maybe 2 years ago I was very active in a bunch of different sports, I was pretty social too, often going out with friends multiple times a week

However, I fell out of love with the sports, I feel I don’t have the ‘energy’ for them anymore. I’ve tried going back to training a few times over the past couple months but at most I go to 3 training sessions routinely then quit. Also, many of my friendships have disappeared and I find myself going out maybe once a month now, mostly a club night or grabbing a coffee.

There’s nothing i’m inherently good at. Nothing calls me, I don’t have a passion. I feel stuck and lost, I want to be doing more with my life, something that I enjoy waking up for.

How do you find that hobby or activity that gives you a reason and an identity? I need a change.
