In the past certain words have been used in a derogatory manner regarding certain groups. These words are now considered slurs that serve as a way for the groups to take back something that was used to put them down. People that aren’t part of these groups however still say these slurs. I’m curious as to what people think would happen if slurs didn’t exist anymore? Would it stop people from having a way to use them in a racist way? Or would it just not do anything at all?

**This is purely hypothetical and I wanted to encourage a civil discussion where we could all share our opinions because I’m genuinely curious what you guys think. Please don’t be racist or rude in the comments.

Guys I understand during recent episodes we have had very heated opinions about the way some islanders have been moving. It’s interesting reading think pieces and watching reaction videos, but I will always draw the line at going to their pages and sending them hate. At the end of the day we don’t know these people personally and you never know how your words affect someone. Please choose kindness guys 🫶🏾🫶🏾

I know we haven’t seen much of them but people have very opposing opinions already so I’m just curious.
