然 radicals are disturbing
The top left radical I thought originally was the radical for moon but apparently it is the radical for meat, which is paired with the radical for dog under which is the radical for flame… so despite its meaning being along the lines of “therefore” - the original is literally “roasted dog meat” - used mainly to talk about the act of burning/roasting in general, however scholars needed a kanji for the word to burn so they slapped an extra fire kanji to the left of it to get 燃.
