Alimony claim 6 crore. Please help

Hi, 30M have filed for divorce from my wife, 29F, no kids. We both used to stay in Bangalore in our own home, for which we both pay equal EMI. We both earn quite well, and usually split expenses. I used to pay more, but that’s okay, as I also earned more. Just for context my in hand is 5 lakh pm for her it’s 3 lakh pm.

Due to irrecoverable differences I had to leave Bangalore and come to Pune with my parents. Her family stays in Bangalore and she continues to stay there. I tried convincing them of mutual divorce and they said it can be tried. Their lawyer came back by below demands:

  1. 3 crore permanent alimony
  2. I clear the loan and gift her the house ~2.5 crore
  3. She keeps all the jewellery ~ 50 lakh

That comes out to 6 crore roughly. Of course we don’t agree and our lawyer suggests to file for contested divorce as court will offer her nada.

Says there is no point of trying mutual divorce.

So, I have two questions:

  1. Should I try for mutual divorce or that door is closed due to this exorbitant demand
  2. As we both earn quite well, and always split expenses, have no kids, and she is quite well off. Will court give her any alimony

Need Help, please guide!

34 M, I am working professional with 11 years corporate experience in finance. I am going through divorce and as a result have moved back to Delhi with my parents from Mumbai. My dad is a tax lawyer, and has his own practice. He is 61 years old, and is doing well for himself.

Working from Delhi in my current job is not possible and I don’t want to move back to Mumbai because of all the trauma. I will need to leave my job. I am using this opportunity to pivot my career, and have decided to do law and join my dad, learn in his practice and eventually take over and grow it.

I have not given any entrances, and as 2026 academic year has begin, I might get a chance to join Amity Noida 3 year LLB program based on my profile and master’s degree.

I want to know guys please:

Should I drop year and try for more prestigious law colleges next year. I can’t leave Delhi NCR. It needs to be around. As I will work with dad within these 3 years as well.

Or should I join Amity law. Fees is not a concern. Placements is not a concern.

I only want to learn, make good contacts and get good practical experience.

Not joining Jindal because I can’t travel to Sonipat daily and can’t take a hostel as I need to stay with family.

Please guide. It’s very serious

On the edge

34M here, being married for 6+ years, no kids. Being living with my spouse (34F) in our own flat in Mumbai. Her family is from Mumbai and stay 2.5km away from our place. My wife is obsessed with her mother, and calls her daily 30+ times, she sleeps in their house for at least 3 nights in a week and every weekend if we go out for shopping/movies/food her mother always joins us. If I try to object my wife gets very angry, starts abusing, threatens to throw away the house and the marriage. I feel have no personal connection with my wife, our sex life is dead - maybe once a month or twice in a good month. I also feel her mother manipulates her in hating my own parents. My wife even left my family WhatsApp group some months back.

She wants a kid now badly, and openly says her mother will take care of that kid. I feel I will be converted into an ATM once this happens and will completely loose control.

I feel like I have had enough and want separation. What do you guys feel.
