Want to try out a tan/beige/off white colourway on my XSR700. Absolutely love the look of the JDM ceramic Ivory XSR900 so want to see / try it out on a 700 before fully commiting to a respray
Before the usual “if they want it they’ll take it” replies — yeah, I get it. I’m not under any illusion anything is unstealable, just trying to understand what’s actually worth doing.
How effective is the immobiliser on the XSR700 in practice? I’ve seen cheap immobiliser emulator modules online (~$20). If someone used one of those, does it effectively bypass the system so the bike can be hotwired like an older bike and ridden away, or is the immobiliser more tightly integrated than that? I haven't fully torn apart the bike, but where is the immobiliser plug even located? will it be a full tank removal to even get at the plug or is it just nexted behind the side cover or near the headlight
Context: I already have already installed 4g GPS tracker to mitigate the 3 men in a van scenario. It has a engine cut off function built in but haven't wired it in with a relay yet as i want to avoid cutting into the factory harness for a ignition/coil or fuel pump cut. Not to mention if they've already got the bike apart they can easily spot a relay cutting off fuel etc.
So I guess my real question is: since I’ve already got tracking (and eventually remote shutdown), is hotwire-and-ride theft still a realistic concern on these bikes, or is the factory immobiliser already doing most of that job anyway?
Had my WR stolen but luckily recovered within hours thanks to a cheap gps tracker. The thieving little bastards ripped off old graphics kit so had to order a new one. Decided to give a Powerzone custom kit from ali express a go
Overall the quality and stencils are really good quality, measuring at 0.70mm (~28 mil). Seller was accommodating to requests like the WRF headlight shroud.
I do miss the speedblock design of the old one, but still happy for the price i paid.
Hey all, i just purchased a 2019 in australia (LAMS restricted, '50hp 655cc' and i noticed its had the throttle plate changed to an unrestricted one. Purely out of interest i just want to know if its had the full derestriction done without having to pull the bike apart to look at intake snorkels and even ecu (is it common practice to mark a flash ecu?).
I figured the easiest way was to get rough acceleration numbers of a stock restricted bike compared to a full power one along with rider weight? perhaps a 0-100kmh or a roll on acceleration to mitigate take off.
Is there other ways to know? i hear alot about the cp2 engine braking being aggressive and is often tuned out with an ecu flash. However, i haven't experienced other MT07 to compare it too. What exactly does it feel like before and after?
