Mijn onderhoudsbeurt staat gepland over ruim 2 weken.

First time Japan trip in late August/early September – are we overthinking the heat and humidity?

Hi everyone,
My friend and I (both in our 30s, from Europe) are planning our first trip to Japan at the end of August / beginning of September. We are very excited, but after reading many posts on Reddit we have started to worry about the weather.
A lot of people describe this period as extremely hot and humid, with some saying they would avoid Japan completely during this time. We understand that it will be hot, but we are wondering if the negative experiences online represent most travellers’ experiences or mainly people who are doing a lot of outdoor activities during the day.
Our travel style:
We are mostly evening people and actually enjoy exploring cities after sunset.
We love sightseeing, city atmosphere, food, viewpoints, temples, and discovering different neighborhoods.
We are not planning any serious hikes or long outdoor activities in the middle of the day.
We are not looking for a beach holiday.
Our plan is to visit Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.
For people who have visited Japan in late August or early September:
Did the heat and humidity seriously affect your enjoyment of the trip?
Were evenings enjoyable for walking around and exploring?
Would you still recommend this period for first-time visitors?
Or would you strongly recommend visiting in February/March instead?
We would really appreciate hearing from people who have actually travelled during this period, especially those with a similar travel style (city sightseeing, food, nightlife atmosphere, but not partying).
Thanks in advance!
