Some fans here really downplay Raihan despite his anime feats, including being called Leon’s rival and making it to the previous Masters 8 lineup.

Some fans here really downplay Raihan despite his anime feats, including being called Leon’s rival and making it to the previous Masters 8 lineup.

Some fans drag him down just because he didn’t make the new Masters 8, but can you really blame him when he lost to the Alola Champion in the finals?

Raihan is the only character (that I’m aware of) who’s explicitly stated to be capable of becoming a Champion in another region, but chooses not to because of his pride, he wants to beat Leon and become the Champion of Galar and the World Champion.

Ash’s base Lucario beat a Champion-level mon with a gimmick. Could Korrina’s or Roy’s Lucario do the same, or do they rely too much on Mega Evolution?

Ash's base Lucario beat Raihan's G-Max duraludon.

Can Roy and Korrina's base Lucario do the same when faced with a big challenge?

I like this detail about HZ anime: the kids of this new generation are having distance learning courses and online study, which really matches today’s generation (many mid-to-late Gen Z and Gen Alpha can relate to it).

Did many longtime Pokémon fans really stop following the anime regularly after Ash’s story on screen (1997–2023) was over?

I’ve seen a lot of longtime fans saying this across different platforms.

I grew up with Ash’s era, but I’ve been enjoying Horizons, and I’m looking forward to the Gen 10 anime.

I was today years old when I found out that the green-eyed Modern Sonic design actually dates back to 1997.

Sonic Adventure released in 1998, but the first prototype concept art of green-eyed Modern Sonic was first shown in 1997.

Literally every series had moments where Ash acted dumb. Some fans only target JN because it was the final series. The double standards in this sub are blatant.

Even the data scene where Ash was panicking and not thinking straight. Every series has moments where he acts silly, even when he’s levelheaded at the time.

It’s no denying that Ash was more consistent in Gen 1-4, but the reboot in Gen 5 made him act more like a Shounen protagonist, and that carried through Gen 5-8. Still, every series (Gen 1-8) has Ash having silly moments. It’s not a JN thing; it’s an Ash thing in every series, done to make the children’s audience laugh.

In a Mega Evolution showdown, which team wins this battle: OG vs HZ?

It’s 3 vs 6, but OG team has Ash, which balances things out.

Despite not having pyrokinesis like everyone here, I love that Knuckles’ fire abilities come from punching so fast and hard that his gloves literally ignite.

Knuckles and Sanji from One Piece have that in common.

Ash’s Mr. Mime vs Liko’s Hatterene, which Fairy/Psychic-type Pokémon takes the win?

  • Ash doesn’t really use Mimey much, but it’s clear that he's quite powerful when he's under Ash's command.
  • Liko doesn't use Hatterene that much either, but she still used her more than Ash did with Mimey.

How close would this fight be, and who ends up winning?

Despite how popular the movie universe became, would you say it reached the same level of cultural impact within the fandom that Sonic X did?

  • Sonic Movies: Although enjoyed by all kinds of fans, Movie Sonic seems especially popular with newer fans. Many of the newer fans recognize the movie Sonic more than X Sonic.

  • Sonic X: The characters largely retain their game personalities and story elements, which is a big reason the show remains popular with longtime fans.

What's your opinion on Ash's AU friends?

Even in an AU timeline where Ash and Pikachu traveled alone, they still found companionship from time to time in each story we saw them in.

What’d you think of them overall? Did you like them?

Which other video game protagonists fit this archetype?

What these protagonists have in common is this: their games feature multiple protagonists, they’re the ones you control during the prologue, and they’re placed at the center of 90% of the promotional art for their games, but in the end, someone else is the one who fights the true final boss instead.

  • Birth by Sleep: You start with Ventus, but end with Aqua.
  • NieR Automata: You start with 2B, but end with either 9S or A2.
  • Bayonetta 3: You start with Cereza, but end with Viola.
  • Rift Apart: You start with Ratchet, but end with Rivet.

Besides the obvious negative points the fandom calls out, list the most positive thing about each Pokémon series.

These are the number 1 negative points i hear about each series from the fandom, but what are the most positive points about each series?

Since Sonic's IDW comics are doing crossovers with other franchises, a Sonic x Kingdom Hearts crossover comic would go hard!

I think these characters will get along due to how similar they are (I guess that's just Shounen tropes in general).

• Sora / Sonic = The cocky and sarcastic optimistic hero.

• Roxas / Shadow = The edgy, unnatural-born character who began as the villain’s lackey.

• Ventus / Silver = The shy and innocent guy who had to flee his ruined apocalyptic timeline through time travel.
