School trip

School trip

My kiddo (7yo) had a school trip today, where they ate lunch. Afterwards while waiting for bus their teacher saw a street vendor (a guy with a laundry cart) selling cotton candy (comes in clear bags, I guess homemade). And she got some for all kids. While I think it’s sweet, I never buy any food on the street or let my kid eat it. I told the teacher and she apologized and said she didn’t think it was a big deal. Am I being too strict here?

Edit to add a link to a photo of a similar vendor, I didn’t realize it might be a local thing:

Saw a pervert in kids park

I’m beyond myself about what I witnessed today. My husband and I were taking our 7yo to the park and I was running an errand so I was joining them later. I was walking across a large busy park around 4pm, plenty of kids and adults everywhere. I’m very vigilant at nature due to my upbringing so I immediately notice a weird looking guy standing by the fence surrounding little kid playground. It’s surrounded by shrub and some trees so I imagine you couldn’t see him from inside the playground. I look at him a second longer and see his zipper down and hand moving repeatedly. He noticed my attention from afar and decided to move. I immediately called 911, gave them a description and everything I could about the location. But in 15 more minutes we stayed there I saw this man walking all around the park and no police.

I just cannot believe that this is happening in broad daylight in NYC park. I always watch my daughter closely but now I feel so uneasy knowing perverts are not deterred to please themselves out in the open. I don’t know how to calm myself and what to do.
