Testing

Hello everyone, I just wanted to share, today marks the milestone of 12 weeks post taking pep plus around 4 weeks since my last exposure, Ive had 2 possible exposures, one with a positive HIV person on treatment e BUT not confirmed to be undetectable, and another person who tested negative on a third gen test. I know many of you here have called me anxious, that I don't have HIV, etc etc. but the fear still lingers. I can only test with third gen z and today is the day this test becomes conclusive for me, I'm heading off right now to my local STI centre, I'm scared, super scared, but I will update once I get my test results, please feel free to share your experiences, and maybe even offer me reasurance lol. If you want to know more about my exposures they're in my profile.

am i going insane?

I slept with a guy (Partner 1) on April 3. Condom the whole time, and I believe I pulled out before he finished while bottoming. When I asked if he had HIV he said no, and only after I kept pushing did he admit he was actually positive, diagnosed in September 2025 with a viral load around 1,000 copies/mL at diagnosis. He said he lied because he didn't want the drama.

He later tested undetectable on April 17, about two weeks after we had sex, so I honestly don't know whether he was already undetectable when we slept together or not. What actually gets me isn't that uncertainty, it's that he lied to my face when I asked him directly.

I then slept with a second guy (Partner 2) on April 24, and wasn't even worried about it at the time. Condom used again, same pull-out situation. He told me his last contact before me was with a woman back in February, and he tested negative a week after us on a third-gen test.

After that the anxiety hit hard, so I did a full course of PEP. I tested 7 weeks post-PEP, negative, third-gen, which is about 13 weeks since the first exposure. I was told that's conclusive for Partner 1, but I still need to wait a bit longer to be sure about Partner 2. One more week to go.

I've had some joint soreness and thought I had oral thrush, though looking back at the pictures now I'm not totally sure that was real. I know a 7-week third-gen test catches about 95% of seroconversions, but I'm still anxious, and it's not just about stigma either, I've got other health stuff that would make a positive result a much bigger deal for me.

Has anyone tested negative at 7 weeks on a third-gen test and later turned out positive? Just trying to get through this last week. i need reassurance, i know these tests are 95 percent accurate at 7 weeks and theres only a five percent chance im infected and the test didnt catch it but it still worries me,

im spiraling

Long story but I want to lay out the timeline because it's been eating me alive.

Beginning of April, I had a sexual encounter with a guy who's HIV positive. We used condoms. I'm honestly not 100% sure of the exact date, somewhere around April 3rd is my best guess.

He told me he started treatment back in September. He showed me a recent lab result of his viral load being undetectable, but that test was dated April 17th, after our encounter, not before. I later got a clearer copy of his labs and it showed his viral load was over 100,000 copies/mL back in September when he started meds, then undetectable by April.

A few weeks later (April 24th) I thought I had another exposure and started PEP as a precaution. I later realized that "exposure" wasn't actually real, but I'd already started the meds, so I finished the full course anyway, ending around May 24th.

I tested 2 weeks after finishing PEP (3rd gen antibody test) and it came back negative.

Today is July 6th, so I'm about 13 weeks past the original exposure, and about 6 weeks past finishing PEP. I know 3rd gen tests need 12 weeks to be conclusive, and since I took PEP, I've read that the window should be counted from when I finished the meds, not the original exposure, which would put my conclusive test date around mid August.

Since then I've been in my head about every little physical thing, but at this point the only thing I'm actually still feeling is my mouth being weird (geographic tongue and a bit of oral thrush). Everything else, the rash bumps and soft stools, has cleared up and feels normal now.

I know condoms plus him likely already being undetectable at the time plus a negative test already is about as reassuring as it gets. But I guess I'm asking: has anyone been in a similar spot, used protection, partner undetectable, still spiraled for months waiting out the window? How did you get through the waiting period? And does my math on the testing timeline sound right to people who've dealt with PEP before?

Additional: we both topped and bottomed but he didn't cum, I really can't recall if he came near my private area with contact prior to penetration. But all penetration was with a condom

Help!!

I had a possible HIV exposure in March, then another one in April. Before starting PEP for the April exposure, I tested negative for HIV. I completed the full 30-day PEP course, then tested again about 2 weeks later, which was also 12 weeks after my first exposure, and that came back negative too.

My concern now is my digestion. I've been having loose, soft stools (type 4–5 on the Bristol scale more 5 than 4) pretty consistently, with some gas. Yesterday morning I had a type 6 (watery), though by night it was back to normal. I'm worried this could be related to HIV, but I also know that back in January my bloodwork showed slightly elevated liver enzymes, which my doctor already noted and i dont know if it could be related)

for context i dont remember using protection in the first exposure as my partner of that time assured me they were a virgin, In the other exposure i did use a condom but i took pep because i was afraid we somehow had unprotected contact during the heat of the moment that i dont recall.

Post PEP and loose stools

Has anyone experienced loose stools after finishing the course? if so for how long did they last? any other symptoms?
