Do any T1Ds take GLP1?
ETA: from one T1D to another…..thank you 🙏🏼 everyone for your response. I will be bringing this entire thread to my next doctor visit as supporting evidence and discussion topics!!! Will update you.
I’d love to drop some weight w/ a glp1, but I’m wondering if it would severely inhibit my body’s ability to correct a low bloodsugar. And a low bloodsugar that remains low and won’t rise over a long period of time is the definition of a nightmare!!!
For context, I’m 37. Diagnosed at 5 years old. My A1C hovers in the 6s. I weigh food and count carbs, I use my fitness pal app to help track. I’m 5’1 and 145lbs. Over the last 6 months I’ve really honed in and have tried to lose weight. I started at 150lbs, so I’ve lost 5lbs but it’s take sooooo much extra effort. My goal is 135lbs.
I think I may just start Qsymia (a pill that combines topiramate & phentermine) since it doesn’t slow my digestion system. But I’d love to hear your suggestions, perspectives. Thanks!
