My dilemma in joining dsa

The truth is I wanna join DSA I have always admired left of center politics because I have reference for the new deal because I liked that idea of the only way of saving capitalism was through providing a strong social seeking app for the working class to alleviate fears. And I have started leaning more towards a Democratic socialism because I took a political science class called democracy and dictatorship, and I noticed that for many capitalist powers the reason why they live at access to the boat is precisely because the more people that have the right to vote the more about affect capitalist interest. also, my biggest tenants are ending the electoral college having multiparty democracy and having universal healthcare. When I found out that DSA is a supporter of the stuff that I am mentioning, I wanted to join, especially being in New York after zohran mammalian has an amazing first year as mayor.

Here is my dilemma in joining. I come from a very upper middle class wealthy capitalist, family I go to a great school without any student loans. I have never had a minimum wage job apart from helping out with my family because they own condos in national city of California. And the only reason why I don’t identifies as a democratic socialist frankly is because out of guilt because I’ve benefited so much from capitalism. I mean, God forbid my own. Grandpa owned a contracting company that made money off of the military increased of Ronald Reagan and George HW Bush. And I also want to say that the only dilemma I have in exploring other more far left ideologies out of Democrat socialism as I do feel that I do believe that the people should have a voice in political matters instead of authoritarian bureaucracy because I think the human inclination for power always takes over despite the noble intentions of creating a classless society. I know all of this seems like a lot and I’m kind of writing this off the dome but I’m just asking. Does anyone else come from privileged positions like me with DSA in New York aCity and how do you reconcile wanting to advocate for Democratic socialism or social democracy, while coming from a system, you would inherently benefit from even though your critiquing.

What is AOC chances in winning Chuck schumers NY senate seat in 2028?

ai summary: If Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) decides to challenge Chuck Schumer in a 2028 Democratic primary, early polling suggests she would be in a surprisingly strong position. A hypothetical matchup from a Data for Progress survey showed AOC leading Schumer by 19 points (55% to 36%) among likely New York Democratic voters. However, she has not announced a Senate run and is also weighing a potential 2028 presidential bid. [1234]

Factors Favoring an AOC Primary Win

  • Voter Dissatisfaction: Polling indicates Chuck Schumer’s favorability among New York Democrats has hit multi-year lows, partly due to progressive frustration with establishment compromises. [12]
  • High Name Recognition and Favorability: AOC commands a massive national and statewide fundraising apparatus, paired with high popularity among the Democratic base. [123]
  • Poll Numbers: Head-to-head metrics show a solid double-digit advantage for Ocasio-Cortez in a primary scenario against the incumbent senator. [12] apologize for ai use. comment down below if you agree or disagree if it would be that easy for AOC.

Why does the sub Reddit hate Abdul Al Sayed, so much when on a recent CNN interview he admitted that he isn’t even a democratic socialist but a progressive capitalist? Doesn’t that align more with social democracy which is what this community is about?

Now let me get one thing clear as someone who recently followed the sub Reddit, because even though I have much sympathy with a Democratic socialist party of America, I am more leaning towards a social Democrat due to my affinity of mutual policies and the fact that I don’t know enough about socialism to fully abandoned a free market framework. And I have seen a lot of your recent Reddit post talking about the Michigan senate primary and you have had valid critiques of this candidate such as the fact that maybe his association with farther figures like the hasan piker might affect winning over more traditional voters and certain areas of the Midwest. But what I don’t respect about the sub Reddit if you have kind of lump in Sayed with the far left strain and yet on a recent TikTok post on the CNN account, Saeed clarified that he isn’t a believer in socialism, but just be believing in a larger social safety at like universal healthcare within capitalism. Is this information a lot of you already knew or is this information that might change your opinion of him? Because what I’m wondering is if the awareness of Saeed is because you thought he was a socialist with me telling you that he doesn’t subscribe to socialism does that give you a more positive opinion of him and there will be less negativity?

What is this subreddit opinion on the social market economy? Is it basically just social democracy?

Before I do an AI generated summary of what it basically is let me give you context david hollenbach is a Jesuit priest and as a catholic I’ve been studying how Catholic social teaching can relate to my economic outlook and David Hollenback wrote a paper in 2010 in support of Obama care and used term social market economy which he believed was most reflective of Catholic social teaching because of its emphasis on the Catholic position that free markets should reflect the needs of individuals for the common good and not purely just the profit incentive. Now I did some research and found out that the social market economy is also related to Ryan land capitalism advocated by chancellor Adenauer of west Germany

Here is social market economy definition ai slop:

Core Principles
Free Competition: The market sets prices and guides business, but the government stops monopolies and unfair rules.

Social Safety Net: The state uses tax money to fund healthcare, pensions, and help for the unemployed or sick.

Economic Balance: The goal is to mix individual business freedom with social fairness and public stability. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Origin and Example
West Germany: The model started here after World War II and helped create the post-war "economic miracle".

The Middle Path: It rejects pure laissez-faire capitalism on one side and strict state-planned communism on the other

Give me your thoughts down below.

Two Major Questions: Is Christian Socialism Heretical In The Catholic Church, And What Is This Sub Reddits Opinion On The Catholic Socialist Opinion Writer Elisabeth Bruenig?

One of the reasons why I have remained catholic is the same reason as to why the woman I mention up above remains Catholic despite having politics that lean to the left of the economic spectrum. I was drawn to keep to my catholic roots when I first learned about catholic social teaching senior year of high school at a catholic known as cathedral catholic in San Diego. One specific teaching of catholic social teaching was the dignity of workers. I respected the Catholic Church that they understood that the best way to allow and encourage conservative lifestyles of no contraceptives, abortion, and the celebration of traditional familiar dynamics comes from economic security. Along with my love and reverence for catholic traditions such as receiving sacraments and going to confession, that day in learning about Pope Leo XIII and rerum novarum forever ensured I would remain a catholic.

I mention all this to you because I have been wondering if there are any catholic commentators or apologists who had the same political viewpoints as me and matching their relation to catholicism as well. My specific views are as follows: I self identify as a new deal democrat but leaning towards being a democratic socialist (I have made a vow not to be one until I have experience as a wage laborer since I have yet to have a real job due to being at university or managing capital) yet when it comes to social issues I view abortion as evil and that one should encourage family life yet I also believe the best way of achieving a culture where family dynamics are promoted and abortion discouraged is not purely through legislation discouraging Reproductive rights but rather though economic liberation so that families can be allowed to be better prepared for unexpected pregancies.

As you well know though, most catholic commentators today don’t fit these beliefs of mixing socialism with Catholicism especially due to Benedict xvi (at the time known as cardinal Ratzinger) strong condemnation of Liberation theology which tried to mix Marxist and socialist elements with catholic social teaching itself. It left me feeling like the odd man out. That is until I found Elisabeth Bruenig, a prominent mainstream opinion writer for the dying legacy media newspapers of the new york times, the Atlantic, and the Washington post. Self described as a ”Catholic Socialist,” she has articulated a perspective that combines socialist economic views with her catholic faith after conversion from her Methodist faith. She is pro welfare state, anti capitalist, but also views abortion as intrinsically evil.

So my final question to this subreddit is two fold: Does anyone know who elisabeth Bruenig is and what are your thoughts about her, and second fold am I a heretic for trying to believe in Christian socialism with a variation mixing my catholic faith? Let me know in the comments down below.

he’s starting to pop up more on my YouTube for you page. I remember he became famous in catholic circles for that one book he wrote called why we’re catholic that it seemed went viral. My own catholic family has a copy. Furthermore, I knew he runs a website called catholic answers which is a pre ai source of disproving and clarifying questions most people ask about the Catholic Church. Yet I am disturbed because the one video I saw of him was him deriding James Martin and father Casey cole for their interactions with the lgbtq community. Now for those of you who may not know in this subreddit, I have praised father Casey Cole’s youtube channel Breaking the habit? As one of the main reasons why I have remained catholic even though I have yet to become fully an Every week mass attendance catholic and find his videos super informative. I even made a Reddit post calling him for our discord the r/left Catholicism‘s robert barron. So it surprised me to see Trent horn come after two prominent catholic apologists (James martin didn’t surprise me as much) as I didn’t know he was one these cultural war apologists. I would love insight and explanation to who this guy is and what he stands for.

Though I have my own theories to the answer, as a catholic who kept faith even though I identify as a new deal democrat/social democrat (not socialist yet as I am still young and in college and have made I a vow not to identify as a socialist until I have experience as a wage laborer or some interaction with protecting real capital assets to use real world experience to inform my political world view) I would love to hear your guys theories to the question that I have posed.
