A Gabriella/Sharpay headcanon

Obviously these two had a rough start. Sharpay perceived Gabriella as a threat to her and thought she was trying to compete with her over leads in the play and even over Troy. I feel like there was some tension between them and were . She saw her and Troy in the play as the leads and watched her confidence grow and decided she couldn’t hate her. There was tension between them over some things but during senior year, all of that softened because Sharpay knew Gabi wasn’t trying to take anything from her or compete with her. Sharpay apologized to Gabi and never held any ill will against her at all. During senior year, they gradually became close friends and by adulthood, they became close friends.

• When Troy decided to propose to Gabriella, Sharpay went with him to pick out the ring.

• Sharpay was one of Gabriella’s bridesmaids in her wedding, planned her a surprise Broadway themed bridal shower and planned a slumber party at Lava Springs for Gabriella for her bachelorette party.

• On Troyella’s wedding day, Sharpay probably Gabi her something blue, helped her make sure her hair, nails, makeup and veil were perfect, and more than likely cried when Troyella put rings on each other’s fingers and when they read vows to each other, when they kissed during the ceremony, and cried when Troyella did their first dance as a married couple.

• I feel like she attended Gabriella’s baby showers as well and became a godmother to Troyella’s daughter and supports their relationship during married life and them having kids. Sharpay, despite not wanting children of her own, loves Troyella’s kids. When they announce the birth of their 3rd child, she congratulates them.

Why is Troy Bolton freaking out? Wrong answers only

My guess is this is his reaction when Gabriella told him he got her pregnant 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤰🏼

I love Troy Bolton despite his obvious flaws.

I think Troy's heart is usually in the right place, particularly when it comes to his friends and to Gabriella. I think he's a good person for the most part. I definitely don't think he's a villain, just a complex character.

I don't condone that he said Gabriella meant nothing to him, although that wasn't actually his fault to begin with and he only said that because he broke down because some of his "friends" were conspiring against him. I definitely don't think he meant it. Everyone gets upset or angry and says things they really don't mean.

I don't condone how he acted in HSM2. I definitely don't think that it was all his fault, it was definitely mostly on Sharpay. She was manipulating him and brainwashing him and trying to kiss his ass to get him to perform with her and possibly be his girlfriend. It was financial coercion, bullying, and dare I say, borderline grooming. He definitely was cocky and abandoned his friends and acted entitled, but did own up to it.

Then there was partially how he treated Jimmie and Donnie, the freshmen, in HSM 3. The part where he and Chad are taking their clothes and running around the hallway with them was also wrong. I don't think either Troy or Chad had any malicious intentions, but I think they definitely took it a bit too far. I hate it to say it but they both deserved detention. And when Troy told Jimmie Sharpay was crushing on him to get him away from Gabriella. He just could have gone about it differently.

This is just my opinion.

Sharpay was 100% the antagonist of HSM 2.

Sharpay did what she did for Troy for very selfish reasons. She did it to bully him into performing with her and isolated him from Gabriella and his friends. She was the driving force of his behavior in HSM 2.

Gabriella did absolutely nothing wrong in this movie. Sharpay tried to steal her boyfriend from her and all Gabriella did was chew her out about it (which I personally think she had every right to do) and didn’t even retaliate at her. That’s not just mature, THAT IS IMPRESSIVE.

Gabriella always took the high road and never retaliated at anyone who hurt her and always chose to be the bigger person.

Tbh Ben is the most forgettable character from Descendants

I do genuinely enjoy the first two Descendants films. Most of the characters are geniunely interesting.

But there’s one I’m not particularly a fan of- that character is Ben. I don’t hate Ben, I don’t think he’s a bad character, but I find him very boring and very forgettable.

Sure, he’s nice, and sure he’s well-intentioned, but he has the personality of bread. I’m not gonna hate on the actor because I’m sure he did doing the best he could with what he got but I found him to be one of the blandest love interests I’ve ever seen in any teen movie. Admittedly, his relationship with Mal is kind of cute, but that’s not enough to save his character.

Ben from Descendants to me is like discount Troy Bolton. At least Troy had a personality outside of being the popular nice guy- and he had an interesting character arc.

From feeling pressured to choose between basketball and singing in the school musical and feeling ostracized, trying to find success and being isolated from those he cares for (though Troy was not blameless for his actions in HSM2, but it wasn’t entirely his fault), He was multi-dimensional and Zac Efron is genuinely good at showing emotion when he acts. I’m probably just biased because I grew up with High School Musical so I greatly prefer that series, but just thought I’d share my thoughts.

Troyella as parents

I feel like Troyella are loving parents who love each other but have different parenting styles.

• Troy always has good intentions but he’s at times a bit misguided and doesn’t always have common sense. He adores his wife and kids, makes corny dad jokes, uses Gen Alpha slang without actually understanding what it means, embarrassing their daughter especially. He just wants to be fun dad and wants his kids to see him as a cool dad. He doesn’t want to discipline or be firm with them at all. I decided to make him reminiscent of dads like Phil Dunphy from Modern Family, or dads in movies from the 2000’s/2010’s played by Adam Sandler or Paul Rudd. He’s more of a pushover but always loves his kids and his wife. He’s firm when it counts, even when he doesn’t like it.

• Gabriella is as loving and kind as ever but firmer than Troy and is infinitely more structure and more of a disciplinarian than he is.

• She affectionately refers to him as her “husband child.”

Why the hell do people hate Gabriella?

Gabriella Montez is the most overhated and over exaggerated character from HSM.

OK, sure, she’s a bit of a Mary Sue, but in her case, it’s not a big deal. Gabriella is kind to others, works hard, is smart, and pushes Troy to explore himself beyond being a basketball player. Outside of using her phone in class and the chili fries incident with Sharpay (which Gabriella obviously didn’t do on purpose and apologized for), Gabriella did nothing wrong and did nothing to hurt anyone.

People are acting like she was bullying people or sabotaging them and even calling her a villain. Like, what the hell? Gabriella never did anything to hurt anyone and she is far from what I would consider a villain.

Taylor, who is supposedly her friend, conspires against her and tries to breaks Troy and Gabriella up and gaslights her about it just for a petty and selfish reason. Gabriella still lovingly takes her back after all Taylor does is just apologize and barely does anything to make it up to her. Gabriella didn’t deserve to be treated that way at all.

In High School Musical 2, Sharpay essentially tries to steal her boyfriend, and Gabriella doesn’t even try to get revenge on her. She also clearly didn’t want to sync to Sharpay’s level and clearly didn’t want to feed any conflict with her. She’s too kind. I personally would have been so much pettier if someone tried to steal my boyfriend and isolate him from me and gaslight me about it.

Agree to disagree?

An HSM fanfic concept

An HSM fanfic concept I have is a Sharpay-centered one because she seems to be a very popular character in the series.

The plot is that Sharpay is excited when she gets the lead in a Broadway play by a well-respected playwright producer, but is devastated when he ends up taking advantage of her and harasses her. She confides in Gabriella (now married to Troy, has given birth to her third child, and is on maternity leave).
