It finally happened to me..

I was on my way to pick up a passenger when I received a call from Uber support. They said that I received multiple reports in the past seven days of riders reporting me. One being the smell of alcohol in my car and the second being me not the driver that it said on my account. He asked me if I’ve had any problems recently and I told him no, but somebody did leave a beer in the third row and I didn’t notice it till the next morning. Then, also last weekend I actually did have somebody ask if I was Andre and that’s not my name and I took the ride, I mean, I verified it was them. So they started asking me a bunch of verification questions like the balance that’s in my Uber, my address, and the last two digits of my bank account to make sure it was my account. I obviously started to get suspicious when they started having me verify the balance in my bank account. I immediately reached out to Uber support and they verified obviously they don’t call. I know much better than this. I mean, I work in IT. I also haven’t had any reports in the app and my stars have not changed in months at any time I’ve ever been reported they’ve obviously one stared me. Even when the person asked for my address, I told them this seems suspicious, but my address is public information anyway so I don’t mind giving it. He tried having me enter a temporary Uber pro card because what they were doing was that thing that like PayPal will do to verify your account by submitted a small deposit and having you verify the amount on there. I wish I didn’t give him any information but it is wild that I almost got scammed so I can only imagine how many people actually fall for this. I feel so dumb because I know way better but his story actually lined up with things that happened to me. Though, he did list two decently common things that happen.
