Retro Gaming Abend in der Stadtbibliothek, heute, Freitag 2.10.

Heute Abend findet von 18 bis 23 Uhr wieder der jährliche Retro Gaming Abend in der Stadtbibliothek Osnabrück statt.

Wir bauen ettliche Konsolen und PCs auf um alte Spiele zu spielen.

Es gibt noch ein kleines Rahmenprogramm. Unter anderem einen Tetris Contest, bei dem ihr einen Modretro Chromatic gewinnen könnt.

Der Eintritt ist kostenlos.

First look Atari x Activision collection at gamescom (in German)

I had the opportunity to visit Atari at gamescom on the same day they announced their Activision collection. So here is a first look.

Video is in German though as I don't think anyone wants to hear a German speak English with an accent.

Free Game Art Exhibition in Cologne during gamescom week — Tencent's "Worlds of Play"

A message from Tencent:
Heads up for anyone who is in Cologne next week: running alongside gamescom is Worlds of Play: The Game Art Exhibition, hosted by Tencent at the Wassermannhalle from August 27–29.

Entry is free and open to the public.

The exhibition spans five themed zones: Reality, Experiments, Abyss, Epics, and Wonderland. They will showcase concept art, character statues, scale models, and immersive installations built around 40+ well-known game franchises, including League of Legends, VALORANT, Assassin's Creed, Black Myth: Wukong, Honor of Kings, DayZ, CONTROL Resonant, and more.

There are also developer meet-and-greets and cosplay showcases throughout.

Since it's free but capacity is limited, registration is required: tencent.com/worldsofplay

Could be a nice detour from the show floor if you want to see some game art in a different setting.

I am looking for games that are tailor made for the Nintendo Switch by using its hardware in a unique way that probably wouldn't work on another system.

So far I have a list that mostly contains first party titles. It seems as few third party games truly support unique Switch features. But maybe you can add to the list.

  • 1-2-Switch & Everybody 1-2-Switch (use of Joy Con, HD vibration, gyro)
  • Super Mario Party (use of Joy Con, HD vibration, gyro in mini games, put consoles next to each other to expand the screen)
  • Wario Ware Move It!
  • Nintendo Switch Sports
  • Nintendo Labo
  • Dr. Kawashimas Brain Training (use the touchscreen to write)
  • ARMS (use joy cons for boxing movements)
  • Fitness Boxing series (use joy cons for boxing movements)
    • maybe Just Dance, although I doubt the Joy Con tracking is actually precise
  • Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum ‘n’ Fun! (you can air drum with the Joy Cons if you don't have the drum accessory afaik)
  • 51 Worldwide Games (put consoles next to each other to expand the screen)
  • Astro Party EX (4 player multiplayer via touch screen on one device)

  • No More Heroes (crocicorn, uses motion controls for attacks)
  • Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword (iuhiscool, uses motion controls for attacks)
  • Samba De Amigo (Bluion6275, uses motion controls)
  • World of Goo (SkirtAggravating7189, good touchscreen controls)
  • Moto Rush GT (beanyyz, good steering with motion controls, also Labo compatible)
  • Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster (Local-Cartoonist-172, uses both Joy Cons in mouse mode for mini games)

I excluded Ring Fit Adventure since it requires an external accessory that could as well release for other systems.
