Gryffin concert music style

Hey guys. For those who have seen Gryffin already, would you say he plays more house music or his actual lyrical songs? I LOVE Gravity and i I prefer melodic songs compared to plain house. Do you feel the concert is worth going to?

I went to Swedish House Mafia and felt they only played their songs with words for the last 30 mins and just house music the rest of the time and I didn’t really enjoy it.

Apts for commute to San Mateo

Hi all. I’m working in San Mateo near the Caltrain station and am looking to move closer to the office. I’ll be commuting 3-4 days a week and ideally would like to live in a place where I can also have a social life. Based on online recommendations I’m looking into Dogpatch, SoMa, and mission bay in SF but cannot seem to find anything studio or 1 BR under 3500. Even if I expand my search to a 2 bedroom, it seems to be the same per person.

I would ideally like to pay a max of 2800 a month but I’m not sure if that’s delusional of me at this point. I’m also open to Palo Alto (borderline more expensive than SF).

Does anyone live in a fun place where they commute to San Mateo and are enjoying the livelihood of the area they’re in? If you could share the city + rent price it would be super helpful.

UPDATE: I am in my mid twenties. If anyone has resources or recommendations on how to search for well prices rentals pls share. I’m currently looking at apt websites but I think that’s the wrong approach

Rejected after onsite

I completed a super day onsite in-person with a company I LOVED for a role I also LOVED. I am an extremely overly self-critical person and I always think my interviews went poorly, even though they may have gone well. But I prepared so much for the onsite and I walked away after each round so confident that I nailed it AND bonded with each of my interviewers. Maybe this is a testament to how good the interviewers' interpersonal skills are (maybe they are the same even if the interview went terribly).

Regardless I was internally having a panic attack every time I got an email notification on my phone because even though I was very happy with how it went, I was imagining a rejection. Then I got a phone call from my recruiter but couldn't answer because I was in the bathroom but I got so excited thinking I was about to get an offer. I rushed out of the bathroom and saw he had left a voicemail so I listened to it. Turns out it was a rejection phone call.

I'm shaking. Even though I was preparing for a rejection, in the back of my mind I felt like I had a really really good chance. I can't even bring myself to call him back in order to get feedback because I feel so in shock :(

AI Architecture System Design Interview help

Hi all, have any of you given an AI System Design interview and if so, do you have any resources you feel are helpful? I feel that this will be different from a traditional ML system design interview but am not sure. Have never done either.

Thanks

▲ 13 r/Layoffs

It's been 3 months since I was laid off from FAANG as an entry-level SWE.

To be honest, I thought 3 months would be more than enough time to find a new job, but reality slapped me in the face.

I had not given an interview for a full-time position before this. The only interview experience I had was from when I was applying to internships. We were using AI heavily on the job, and of course I remember how to code, but I did not remember how to solve Leetcode-style problems.

I took the first 3 weeks off post layoff, was still processing what had happened, spent a lot of time watching TV, fixing my resume, and painting lol . I gave one interview one month post layoff, received a Leetcode problem and failed miserably.

I've had about 5 interviews since then - two more Leetcode-style technicals which I didn't pass, two behavioral where they decided it wasn't a good fit, and got to the onsite round with one company, just for it to be cancelled the night before (they've ghosted me now even though I was a "top candidate").

I've been trying my best to practice Leetcode problems every day, but I have such a huge mental block in my head, that the second I hear I'll have a Leetcode round I automatically assume I will fail. I haven't even started prepping system design because im so stupid I think that if I cant even pass the coding round, whats the point in practicing sys design.

I don't really know what the purpose of this post is, but has anyone had this mental block with interviews and how did you balance your time studying for all the different types of rounds. Maybe I just need some tough love and I probably do need to work harder, but I feel so stuck In my mind..

Has anyone completed a technical phone screen with Applied Intuition for SWE role recently? If so, do you have any information on the types of questions asked? I am seeing mixed information on it being Leetcode style vs. more of made up problems using API.
