Finally got out this season
It’s been too long but I finally made it out for my first trip of the season. It felt so great. I had to make a decision between locations and really glad that I went with my first mind including this is my first choice. I didn’t really anticipate getting a lakefront site but was so glad I did and was obviously very nervous about the mosquitoes, but either all of my methods to keep them away worked this time or they just weren’t terrible like I thought they would be.
Pup and I had a lovely time, relaxing, and napping. She was napping really hard when we had some site visitors which you’ll see in one of the pictures so I didn’t get to see how she would respond to them. Put my binos to the test for the first time and got some incredible views 🦅🦆🦃
I will definitely be returning back to this campground, solo and possibly with friends. It was so quiet and serene.
Ottawa national forest wildlife
Taking a camping trip with my pup to the north 😅. We’re not first time campers but we haven’t really camped where or when there are bears. Any tips on black bears during this time of year? Do I NEED bear spray? I have a bear canister for food. But we’re tent camping and I’ll be able to keep most things in the car. Thanks for any tips. Please let me know if I’m breaking any rules with this post I don’t post here often. Thanks in advance!
How long?
Im not particularly new to solo camping but I’m wondering how do you all decide how long to solo camp? What’s the longest you’ve stayed out? And how the heck don you decide on where to go. I’ve been able to “just settle” and decide on something and have also made some intentional choices on where to go but sometimes like right now it’s such a struggle to pick a location. I’m on vacation this week so I have time to drive and I think that’s what’s really holding up this location decision. Also have you pulled up on a site that’s near folks who clearly are living on the grounds? How did you navigate that?
Project ideas?
What kind of practical or not so practical things could I build with this wood. It’s what I understand to be lower quality for something like indoor furniture like a coffee table. I made one of those small side tables with some of it and it’s held up pretty well. Looking for some other ways to use this though. Would love ideas +images if you have them! Thanks!
to cut them off for now anyway. I’ve had my locs since 2013. I’ve always loved them and they’ve been a huge part of my life and identity. They been thru a lot with me. I’ve cut them a few times and they’ve gotten very long. But… I think I need a break or a refresh or a restart. Not looking for advice necessarily…just needed to get it out somewhere. Annnnnd idk what else I would do with my hair if not locs. I’ve had almost every style and I love my locs because I don’t have to tend to them as much as loose hair. But I’ve been feeling like I need to let them go. Maybe even just to start over. Aight rant over 🙄
