Points to consider before moving back to India

I recently moved back to India after almost a decade in the US. This is the perspective of a 30M moving to a Tier 1 city.

I know a few people in my circle who are considering moving, so I thought I’d list a few things that could influence your decision.

  1. Family: This can singlehandedly make/break your decision. It’s extremely important to understand the context in which your parents, siblings, and extended family live. Family dynamics, expectations, and boundaries may be very different from the West. If you are neurodivergent or particularly sensitive to social expectations, navigating this can be exhausting.

  2. Contacts: Life runs through personal connections. Hospitals, schools, government offices, religious institutions, housing, contractors are broken institutions. Without a “contact,” even getting basic things done can become unnecessarily difficult.

  3. Boundaries: You need to be comfortable establishing boundaries. People will test what you are willing to tolerate. You may need to be more assertive, push back, raise your voice and occasionally establish hierarchy.

  4. Workplace: You may have to put effort into communicating what you consider inappropriate/toxic workplace behaviour. Some colleagues and managers may respond positively.

  5. Baggage: India carries a lot of historical, cultural, class, caste, region, language, generational baggage. If you cannot learn to navigate some of this without internalising, it can become frustrating.

Most of these problems can be solved with one of three things: money, time, or mental health. My preferred solution is money.

Despite, I think moving back to India can be extremely rewarding. But it helps to come back with realistic expectations.

Do Chelsea Provide Liquidity in the Market ?

I had some free time and chatgpt credits, so tracked the transfers within the EPL, which has skyrocketed in value recently. I had an intuition that chelsea can pull off some spectacular deals because of the volume of deals, they provide exits to a lot clubs, which might improve relationships for future transactions. I maybe be wrong but curious to hear opinions.

How supporting Arsenal has changed

Now that the dust has settled on Arsenals PL win, I have started thinking why I’m celebrating corners like goals and getting excited when we waste time properly. Started supporting Arsenal because of Wenger and beautiful football. Funny how Arteta has completely changed what I want from Arsenal.

Wrote a small piece about going from Wenger to Arteta and how my relationship with Arsenal changed along the way:

Any other Arsenal fans here who grew up with Wenger and feel wierd about the way we play? Curious if you guys feel the same.

Review : Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour 7

I have flat feet and overpronation, so I have always stuck to stability shoes from ASICS, such as the Court FF.

Recently, someone gifted me a pair of Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour 7s. I was initially a little annoyed because tennis shoes are such a personal choice, especially when you have specific support requirements. However, I eventually tried them and I was genuinely blown away.

They are primarily designed as lightweight speed shoes, but they still provide excellent stability and support. They also come with a six-month outsole warranty. In India, they cost around ₹13,000 (roughly $120), which is considerably cheaper than comparable premium tennis shoes from Wilson, Adidas, or ASICS.

Overall, I would honestly recommend the Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour 7 to almost anyone. Do not make the same mistake I did by overlooking Mizuno simply because it is not one of the traditional tennis brands you usually consider.
