After 10 months of applying, 150+ applications and 14 interviews, I finally got a job. In my desired industry? No. What I studied for three years? No. I only got it because of my boyfriend who also works there.

I worked my butt off in university, submitting so many job applications, writing and rewriting resumes and cover letters, and in the end the only way I could get a job was through my boyfriend who never even went to university and got his job only three weeks into applying. I didn’t want to resort to using my connection but I didn’t have a choice. Bills add up, it’s been months of living on a single income and eating into our savings. Just feels shitty to know I’ve worked so hard just to end up having to ask my partner for help. Happy I’ve finally got a job but feeling so defeated emotionally….

Mods to play with Minecolonies

Looking to play Minecolonies for the first time. Looking for mods to play with it, focused on more cozy homestead life. Animals, farming, decorating, etc. I don't love combat but would love quest based mods, organisation mods, etc.

Mods I'm already considering:

  • JEI
  • JourneyMap
  • Ore Vein Miner
  • Sophisticated Backpacks
  • Storage Drawers
  • Waystones

Thanks for any suggestions!

Food budgeting

Wanting to start budgeting for food for me and my partner. We currently mostly shop at aldi but even so, we struggle to pay under $250 per week. What are some tips people are using? We’re also thinking of starting to buy meat in bulk and freeze it, so where are people these days buying cheap but decent bulk beef? We’re located northside, thanks in advance from a struggling family!

Worth it to pursue Cert lll in Health Administration?

Hey there! I'm a recent uni grad with a degree in wildlife science. I've been looking for a job since October with no luck. I've mainly been applying for admin roles and there seems to be a shocking amount of medical receptionist roles advertised. TAFE is currently offering a CERT III in Health Administration with fee free TAFE and I'm wondering if it's worth pursuing. I'd be taking it entirely online. For those of you who have taken it, how difficult is it, how many hours did you spend per week studying, and is it possible to do full time while working? For those of you working in the industry, is it worth getting into with the salary, benefits and work load?

Cheers!

What would you change about your body corporate?

For those of you either just living in a property on body corporate land or on the committee, what would you change? Certain rules you’d get rid of (either because you don’t like sticking to them or don’t like having to approve extras), rules you’d add, etc. Do you like having a body corporate, or do you wish you’d avoided it?

Vyvanse stopped working, what now?

I’ve been on Vyvanse for 2 months now. First month I was on 30mg and OMG it was like nothing I’d felt before. I struggle with fatigue and the fact it gave me instant energy was incredible. It worked, loved it, but it didn’t last long throughout the day so my doctor recommended going up to 40mg. The moment I started 40mg it was like all my progress was erased. Felt like I was just taking sugar pills. No energy, no side effects, nothing. My doctor (who I’m planning on leaving) said she’d never heard of this before (I know from research this happens) and didn’t know what to recommend but put me back on 30mg to see if that’d help. Now back on 30mg I still feel nothing. To go from a whole month of energy to nothing is heartbreaking. So now I’m wondering do I try upping my dosage again or do I need to switch drugs?

PS, everything will be run by my doctor who will change my prescription I’m just trying to see what other people who went through the same thing have done and what may have worked

Do I abandon my wildlife career path I spent three years studying for?

I live in Australia and recently graduated from university with a degree in wildlife science. I have been trying to get a job since October with zero luck. Due to lack of a car and living in the country, I wasn’t able to get a lot of experience while in uni other than some administrative experience in a wildlife extracurricular. Even now after moving, I don’t have a car and any relevant volunteer work is more than 1.5 hours away. I’ve applied for easily 100+ jobs in the past two months, scoured every wildlife related job board, look everyday for new posts, applied to in person and remote jobs, and zero luck. I’ve been applying for receptionist and administrator jobs unrelated to my field just because I desperately need an income. I had to get on government assistance because I can’t find a job. I am honestly at a loss, it feels like the career I desperately fought for and have dreamed about since I was young is unattainable. I don’t want to work in the bush, which seems like the only option these days.

What do I do now? Is there any supplemental certifications to get that would help? Any courses? Any new places to look? I honestly don’t know what to do, I’ve lost all hope.

Body corporate in Australia caring about a second cat

living in australia, wanting to get a second cat but all pets must be approved by body corporate. if you are currently in a body corporate, would you care if you saw a second cat in the window of a place that only has approval for one? would you say something or just not care? would you mention the second cat to the REA?

Season 22 Finale

anybody else disappointed by the lack of a huge cliffhanger?

greys is known for having huge jaw dropping cliffhangers on season finales that have you begging for more, but there was nothing. like a few things here and there but nothing that had me itching to know what happens next. usually it’s up in the air if a character is dead or not or some crazy crash happens at the end where something big is about to happen, but not this time. of course i’ll watch the next season but there’s nothing that makes me NEED to watch. sure a few characters don’t know if they’ll have a job, jo might stop working, link and his pills, the amelia drama, but nothing jaw dropping.

curious if im the only one who was expecting and wanting more.

if you’re like me, pallet town was SUPER overwhelming. well, i thought of a great idea for how to use the space! i’m currently building every prefab and usual building kit as a kind of “museum of pokopia”. i have a section for all the wasteland kits, beach kits, etc. just a cool way to walk through all of the houses available in the game, and a way to see how each one looks cause im sure you haven’t actually used them all! super excited to eventually place down all the kits i never imagined using as well (cafe, park, etc) :)

Hey there!

Finally moved into a place where we actually have room for a guest bedroom! I have a lot of family come from out of state/country and so I'm looking for a new frame and mattress. Gonna switch out our current frame and get a new bedframe for me and my partner's daily use, and a new mattress for the guest room to go along with our old queen sized frame. So, good recommendations for daily use sturdy bedframes and then good recommendations for a new queen sized mattress. Medium firmness that is comfortable as I have many older relatives that will be using it and I don't want them complaining of a sore back. The options online are overwhelming so would love some personal experience recommendations. Looking for new and not second hand, money isn't too big of an issue as I was given funds to design the space, but obviously nothing that breaks the bank too much.

Thanks!

▲ 10 r/Effexor

hey everyone, i just wanted to share my experience coming off effexor and see if anyone else has been through something like this.

a bit of background: I went to a new doctor because I was dealing with anxiety (later found out it was ocd), and after trying other meds that didn’t work while i was based in america, i needed a new prescription. literally first meeting she prescribed effexor. when prescribing it she didn’t really explain any of the side effects or the withdrawal process, so when i did my own research at home i was a bit startled. i started at 75 mg, then went up to 150, and then 225. when I told her I was worried about going up to 225 because it felt really high, i said I was nervous about coming off eventually and she told me that since I’d only been on it for about four months, it wouldn’t be that big of a deal to stop. long story short, never did much for me so i decided i wanted to try something else and so we decided to stop the effexor and switch to lexapro. when i tried to taper off using her plan, it was really awful. she had me drop to 150 for 3-4 days, then to 75 for 3-4 days, then down to 37.5 for 1-2 days, and then zero. i was completely out of commission. i couldn’t even get out of bed. i had zero energy, could barely get to the bathroom, couldn’t even pick up a water bottle. headaches so bad i just had to sleep them off and wear an eye mask. when I went back to her yesterday and explained this she just said “you are really sensitive” and that she’d never heard of people responding that way.

i’m just really confused, because from everything I’ve read, especially here on Reddit, people are really vocal about how hard it is to come off, and how important it is to taper slowly. people even told me on here specifically that the way she had me taper off was dangerous. i just thought it was really strange that my doctor didn’t explain that upfront and kind of downplayed it even after i went through the withdrawals. i just feel really lost and would love to know if this is normal or if I need to be a lot more cautious next time, or if my doctor is just insane.

thanks so much for any insight or advice, and side note, lexapro is doing wonders.
