The first promotional teaser for PBB Collab 3.0

Let’s all pretend this is new information and that Dyogi didn’t explicitly say they were aiming for an October launch two months ago.

After staying radio silent throughout September after auditions were closed, the official PBB accounts have finally confirmed that we are, in fact, getting a new season this October.

With the first promotional teaser now out, the countdown to PBB Collab 3.0 has officially begun. However, details surrounding the season format, housemates, and most importantly, the new house have yet to be announced, so keep an eye out for that.

What's something about the show your opinion has completely changed on over time?

See title.

It can be for better or for worse, whether your opinion changed while the season was airing or after looking back on it.

It could be about a housemate, season, twist, storyline, format, or anything else related to the show.

BB28 Cast Posters

The cast posters are a lot of fun this year and really well designed. It feels like this season has a bigger budget than previous seasons!

If PBB decided to do a "Second Chance" Season, who would you cast and why?

✨ Graphic design is my passion ✨

Premise: You're the casting director for PBB's first-ever all-returnee season, titled "Second Chance." Under the premise that everyone accepts your offer, you can cast housemates from Season 1 all the way up to the latest season as of this post.

A Second Chance season is a variation of an All-Star or Returnee season, but with one key difference. Instead of focusing solely on the biggest names or most successful players, it gives former housemates who may have gotten eliminated early, been screwed over by circumstances, or had untapped potential the opportunity to compete once again.

Here are the rules for this hypothetical season:

  • Your cast must consist of exactly 18 housemates.
  • You may disregard the distribution of housemates across seasons. You're free to cast as many or as few as you'd like from any season.
  • You may also disregard the gender ratio if you prefer to cast more housemates of one gender.
  • You may disregard their original placements, provided they never won their season, made the Big 4, or achieved the equivalent placement in formats that didn't include a traditional Big 4. After all, the theme is to give the evicted another chance to make it to the Big Night.

Below is a table summarizing the housemates I picked.

Housemate Original Season Placement
Ella Connect 8th
Gail Connect 10th
Tiff Kumunity Teen Edition 6th
Therese Gen 11 18th
Jas Gen 11 9th
Xyriel Collab 7th (Kapamilya)
Klarisse Collab 6th (Kapamilya)
Reich Collab 2.0 10th (Kapamilya)
Carmelle Collab 2.0 5th (Kapamilya)
Albie Kumunity Celebrity Edition 16th
Eslam Kumunity Teen Edition 8th
Patrick Gen 11 13th
JM Gen 11 5th
Michael Collab 9th (Kapuso)
Emilio Collab 8th (Kapamilya)
Josh Collab 8th (Kapuso)
Clifford Collab 2.0 7th (Kapuso)
Rave Collab 2.0 7th (Kapamilya)

I decided to focus more on the housemates of the current decade.

Reasons for my picks vary. Then there are those I found genuinely likeable or interesting from a character and/or strategic perspective that I'd love to see again approach the game with the experience they've gained since their original season.

Remember, you're more than welcome to disagree and come up with your own cast in the comments below. After all, there are plenty of former housemates with compelling cases for a second chance, and part of the fun is seeing how different everyone's dream cast would look.

Is this also just an excuse to use one of the new post flairs? Mmmmmm maybe.👉👈

Which housemates would you have liked to see in a different season or batch instead?

This post includes three images divided into two sections. The one on the left is the housemate I am referring to, while the one on the right is the batch or season I am curious about, specifically how they would have fared if they had been cast there instead of their original batch.

I'll put a more detailed version of my reasoning for my picks in the comments later for anyone interested, but to put it simply:

  • Would Ashley still become a/the fan favorite if she were in Batch 1 instead, given the events that occurred and the nuances of the format?
  • How would the Collab Cast handle Alexa's strong-headed personality, and/or would she flame out and get evicted early, similar to AC and Ashley, or be overshadowed big time, similar to Kira or Xyriel?
  • In terms of casting, Joaquin could've balanced out Charlie's inclusion as the sole minor of their respective networks. I also don't like Collab 2.0 in general, but I think he's one of the few good things to come out of the season because of his complexity and gameplay that would've been better suited for Collab 1 instead.

Which was the best standalone Teen Edition?

And to finish this series, we have the four Teen Editions that aired between 2006 and 2012.

At the time, Teen Editions were known for being shorter than their adult counterparts and usually airing during the summer months. They offered a different perspective by focusing on the growth, struggles, and relationships of teenagers living together. Despite their shorter runtimes, these editions produced some of the franchise's most recognizable figures who remain relevant today.

  • The First Teen Edition was the franchise's first attempt at adapting the format for younger housemates and remains the shortest standalone season, lasting only 42 days. The season became memorable for launching the careers of Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson, whose journeys inside the house became one of PBB's most successful stories.
  • Teen Edition Plus expanded the concept by bringing the housemates' guardians into the experience inside the PBB house. The season explored both the teens' personal growth and their relationships with their families. It is also remembered for producing names such as Robi Domingo and Beauty Gonzales.
  • Teen Clash 2010 introduced a more competitive format by bringing together Filipino and international teen housemates, a concept that remains unique within the franchise. The season created new dynamics through its clash format and introduced notable figures such as Big Winner James Reid, Ryan Bang, and Tricia Santos.
  • Teen Edition 4 marked the final standalone Teen Edition of the original era and featured a simpler format, away from the experimental concepts of Teen Plus and Teen Clash. The season became known for the iconic "PBB TEENS!!!" phrase coined by Vice Ganda, which was associated with its many romance-driven storylines. It also produced Big Winner Myrtle Sarrosa before the show eventually shifted toward having mixed editions instead.

How would you rank the four adult standalone seasons we've had so far?

A recurring theme I've read from people who watched these adult editions is that they were all genuinely compelling in their own right and are positively received for the most part.

  • Season 1 was the one that set the tone for everything and became the foundation of the franchise. It introduced the Filipino audience to the core format, from the nominations and weekly tasks to the social experiment aspect of bringing people with different personalities and backgrounds together. Its simplicity and authenticity compared to its future iterations made it stand out even more when looking back.
  • Season 2 is well known for expanding on the first season, introducing bigger twists and more complex tasks. It is remembered for its memorable cast of housemates, strong conflicts like Maricris vs Bea and Gee-ann/Bea vs Wendy, and the first international exchange twist in PBB history with the Big Brother Swap.
  • Then there's Double Up with its ambitious two-house format, which was a first in PBB history and was to be used in future seasons like Teen Clash, Unlimited, and OTSO. The season divided housemates into two separate houses, creating unique dynamics and storylines before eventually bringing them together. Its most beloved storyline was the unexpected love story between Big Winner Melai Cantiveros and fellow finalist Jason Francisco, which became one of the most iconic showmances in PBB history.
  • Lastly, Unlimited, which holds the record as the longest civilian season to date at 155 days, delivered some of the most layered and dramatic twists the franchise had seen. From the Luxury House vs. Industrial House divide to Paco's chaotic run as a House Player, the season definitely experimented heavily with the format and pushed the boundaries of what a PBB season could be at the time.

Similar to my last post, I can't exactly rank them since I didn't watch any of them while they were airing, so my opinions won't hold as much weight as those who actually experienced them live back then.

I'll do a post for the four Teen standalone seasons next time.

Which was the best “Mixed” season from the previous decade?

And by mixed season, I mean seasons that featured adults, and teens, and for two of them, celebrities as well, competing together, either as one singular batch or through multiple batches within the same season. At the time, this was an unusual format, as the show used to have separate editions for each category of housemates before eventually making mixed seasons the norm as more seasons adopted this format.

I can’t rank all four seasons together because OTSO was the only one that I saw in its entirety as it was airing live so I might be coming from a place of bias, and my knowledge on the other three seasons are limited to some of the most notable events that happened, the finalists, and the format changes that occurred.

The Narrowest Eviction Margins in PBB This Decade

Included in this post are some of the smallest voting gaps this decade, not exceeding a margin of 2%.

Connect:

  • Mika lost to Crismar by 1.32%
  • Crismar lost to Alyssa E. by 0.68%
  • Aizyl lost to Ella by 0.07%
  • Quincy lost to Ralph M. by 0.97%

Kumunity Season 10:

  • Chie lost to Eian by 0.96%
  • Shanaia lost to Samantha by 1.30%
  • Alexa lost to Samantha by 0.95%
  • Samantha lost to Anji by 0.07%
  • Basti lost to Gin by 1.30%
  • Zach lost to Nathan by 1.50%
  • Kai E. lost to Stephanie by 1.69%
  • Ashton lost to Stephanie by 1.18%

Gen 11:

  • Binsoy lost to JP by 0.31%
  • JM lost to Housemate C by 0.85%

Collab:

  • Michael and Emilio lost to Brent and Vince by 1.83%
  • Josh and Ralph lost to Shuvee and Bianca by 0.48%
  • Vince lost to Charlie by 1.09%
  • Shuvee and Klarisse lost to AZ and River by 0.17%

As to why I think this has become more common this decade compared to the previous one, it's simple. Since Connect, the public has been able to see vote tallies update throughout the week in some capacity. This allows fandoms to monitor the standings, identify who is in danger, and adjust their voting strategies accordingly.

Instead of voting blindly, supporters can concentrate their efforts where they are needed most, while rival fandoms can respond in turn. This can result in situations where margins tighten dramatically, leading to far more close results than we typically saw in earlier seasons, when votes were not disclosed in any way until after the latest evictee had already been revealed.

Makes you wonder how different these seasons would've been if the results of any of these evictions were flipped.

What are your thoughts on the most nominated female housemates of their respective seasons from the current decade so far?

As promised, ito yung post for the girls.

Housemate Season no. of times Nominated Lost to: Placement
Ella Connect 6 (Weeks 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, & 12) Amanda 8th
Anji Kumunity Celebrity Edition 6 (Weeks 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, & 11) N/A 1st
Kathleen Kumunity Adult Edition 3 (Weeks 17, 18, & 19) Isabel and Zach 10th
Isabel Kumunity Adult Edition 3 (Weeks 19, 20, & 21) N/A 1st
Stephanie Kumunity Teen Edition 7 (Weeks 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, & 30) Rob and Gabb 3rd
Fyang Gen 11 7 (Weeks 5, 6, 7, 10, 12, 13, & 14) N/A 1st
Kolette Gen 11 7 (Weeks 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 13, & 14) Fyang and Rain 3rd
AZ Collab 4 (Weeks 5, 14, 16, & 17) Mika, Will, and Charlie 4th
Bianca Collab 4 (Weeks 9, 12, 14, & 16) Ralph, River, and Brent 5th
Krystal Collab 2.0 4 (Weeks 5, 10, 12, & 18) Lella 2nd
Princess Collab 2.0 4 (Weeks 3, 10, 17, & 18) Caprice, Heath, and Ashley 4th

I will be counting the final nomination round, where everyone still in contention for the Big 4 was vulnerable, regardless of whether it happened through public voting or challenges. I will also include the Big Night, or its equivalent, for those who participated in multi-batch seasons. Even though the finalists had already secured their spots, a winner still had to be decided, which meant someone still had to lose.

By that logic, Anji, Isabel, Stephanie, Fyang, Kolette, AZ, Bianca, Krystal, and Princess went through an additional one to two rounds of nominations simply because the format required it.

As for my personal opinions, I enjoyed Ella, Kathleen surprisingly enough, considering she was a mid-season boot, Isabel, Stephanie, Fyang, AZ, Krystal, and Princess. I am neutral towards Bianca, while I am not particularly fond of Anji or Kolette.

In terms of how their nominations contributed to their journeys inside the house:

  • We have the housemates whose own actions, behavior, or interpersonal conflicts inside the house led to their nominations. Their nominations often came from specific behaviors that affected their relationships with other housemates, whether it was being too competitive, struggling with communication, creating tension, or failing to adapt to their environment. For some housemates, their nomination served as a wake-up call, as being placed in danger forced them to reflect on how they were perceived and how their actions affected the house. This includes Ella, Anji, Kathleen, Stephanie, Fyang, Kolette, AZ, Bianca, Krystal, and Princess.
  • Then we have the housemates who were nominated simply because the game demanded it, rather than because of their own actions. This includes those who failed to win immunity for themselves, those who became victims of circumstance, such as being part of a losing team or being automatically nominated alongside their duo, or those who were included in the final lineup of housemates up for public voting. The first two categories refer to Isabel and Bianca, while the last one refers to anyone who made the Final 5 minimum.

What are your thoughts on the most nominated male housemates of their respective seasons from the current decade so far?

A quick refresher. These are the ones I will focus on for now since I do not have the energy to cover every pre-pandemic season.

Housemate: Season: no. of times nominated: Lost to: Placement:
Ralph M. Connect 4 (Weeks 9, 11, 13, & 14) Liofer and Jie-ann 6th
KD Kumunity Celebrity Edition (S10) 6 (Weeks 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, & 10) Anji, Madam Inutz, and Samantha 7th
Zach Kumunity Adult Edition 4 (Weeks 18, 19, 20, & 21) Isabel and Nathan 3rd
Rob Kumunity Teen Edition 6 (Weeks 24, 25, 26, 27, 29, & 30) N/A 1st
Dylan Gen 11 4 (Weeks 2, 3, 5, & 8) Rain and Kolette 10th
Ralph Collab 1 6 (Weeks 3, 5, 7, 9, 16, & 17) Brent 2nd
River Collab 1 6 (Weeks 3, 5, 12, 14, 16, & 17) Brent, Ralph, and Esnyr 4th
Heath Collab 2.0 6 (Weeks 5, 7, 12, 14, 17, & 18) Caprice 2nd

I will be counting the final nomination round, where everyone still in contention for the Big 4 was up for eviction, regardless of whether it was through public voting or challenges. I will also include the Big Night, since even though the finalists had already secured their spots, a winner was still being decided, meaning some had to lose.

What can I say? In terms of character, I liked Rob, Ralph D, and River, and I am neutral towards everyone else, to put it simply.

In terms of how their nominations contributed to their journeys inside the house, I feel like I can split them into three categories:

  • First are the housemates whose repeated nominations were woven into their stories. Their nomination streaks became central to their arcs, which were framed around resilience and personal growth as they repeatedly faced elimination risk due to the cast's perception of their behavior. In my opinion, KD and Rob fit this category the most.
  • Second are those who feel more like victims of circumstance. Their nominations often stemmed from external factors, such as being paired with a duo that accumulated nomination points or repeatedly ending up in losing groups. This comes across more as the result of how situations unfolded around them rather than the consequences of their own behavior, leading to the kind of structured growth arcs seen in the first category. This is not to say they cannot grow as housemates, but it does not come across in the same narrative way. In my opinion, Ralph D., River, and Heath primarily fit this.
  • Finally, we have the housemates who ended up among the most frequently nominated housemates without a strong narrative built around them. Their records speak for themselves, sure, but they did not translate into a defined storyline or significantly shape their overall journey. This is where I would place Ralph M, Zach, and Dylan.

I will save the girls for another day. Kailangan kasi ng discussion posts every other day.

Housemates who you think could have contributed more to their respective seasons if they had stayed longer?

Hindi naman kailangan na early boots necessarily. It just so happens that all of my picks for this post were early boots who share a few things in common. They were either major sources of drama, had interesting/strong personalities, or had their arcs cut short before they could fully develop and reach a satisfying conclusion, and some fall under more than one criterion.

But I guess being an early boot does play a role since it limits how much we actually get to see from them. Less screen time means less chance to fully explore their personality, relationships, and potential storylines, which makes their impact feel more “what could have been” than fully realized.

My picks:

  • Justin: PBB Connect - 1st Evictee.
  • Albie: PBB Kumunity Celebrity Edition - 2nd Evictee
  • Therese: PBB Gen 11 - 1st Evictee
  • AC: PBB Collab - 1st Kapamilya Evictee
  • Ashley: PBB Collab - 1st Kapuso Evictee
  • Michael: PBB Collab - 3rd Kapuso Evictee
  • Reich: PBB Collab 2.0 - 1st Kapamilya Evictee

I can go into more detail per pick if anyone’s interested.

BB28 Logo Revealed

The video shows the logos changing from each era! I am more inclined to think now this will be a house and theme based on past twist and maybe even rooms?

u/Federal_Arki05 — 4 months ago

What do you wish to see from the New Era of PBB even if it may come off as far-fetched?

https://preview.redd.it/xp4u2a10977h1.png?width=1704&format=png&auto=webp&s=559e37146ffdc71a8cbccbfe6fd0931ce0305300

I say "New Era" because with the arrival of a new house after spending 20 years of the show with the old one, and the last two seasons being some of the most experimental seasons as far as gameplay goes, it feels like the perfect time to discuss changes we'd like or hope to see, even if they're unrealistic.

I've already talked about this a couple of times, but I still wish the show would lean more into the competitive side of the game. I'd like to see housemates given more agency over their own fate instead of having nearly everything decided by nominations and public voting. The return and proper implementation of the HOH, POV, and Jury Vote, in my opinion, would add real strategy and make individual decisions matter more. Now I don't want PBB to become a complete copy of its international counterparts, but there is room to borrow mechanics that push more active gameplay. While they're at it, they might as well scrap the rule prohibiting discussions about nominations so people can play more freely.

- - - - -

Another aspect of the show that I haven't talked about as much is the casting. Simply put, I wish they'd cast more people in their 30s and 40s. I understand the optics as to why the show favors teens and people in their early 20s, and it's related to showbiz, but I think a wider age range would naturally lead to more diverse conversations and dynamics. People at different stages of life tend to approach relationships, conflict, responsibilities, and decision-making in very different ways. It would also open the door to stories and perspectives we rarely see anymore. Someone juggling a career, raising children, supporting a family, or navigating major life transitions brings a very different outlook than someone just entering adulthood. Neither perspective is inherently more interesting than the other, but the contrast between them often makes for compelling television.

More importantly, it would make the house feel more representative of society as a whole, which is something PBB has always claimed to be (Ang Teleserye ng Totoong Buhay ika nga). The show is at its best when it brings together people who would probably never cross paths in the real world and lets those interactions unfold naturally.

- - - - -

Speaking of casting, I wish the show would become more experimental and move beyond the usual teen, adult, and celebrity categories. The only other variations we have seen were the Filipino Teens versus the International Teens in Teen Clash, and the Kapamilya x Kapuso dynamic in the recent Collab seasons.

I want casting and theming to work together more directly, where each season is built around a clear structure that shapes both who enters and how they play.

Imagine a season themed around class backgrounds, with White, Blue, and No Collar housemates. Work ethic, money mindset, and life priorities would naturally collide in a way that feels grounded in real social differences. It would also open up conversations about opportunity, stability, and struggle, giving more weight and context to how people see the world.

Or a Brains, Brawn, and Beauty themed season, where housemates are grouped based on how they tend to navigate life through intellect, physical ability, or social skills. Done carefully, it gives them a clear identity tied to the theme that they can either lean into or break away from. It also highlights different strengths and weaknesses, showing how each approach holds up inside the house.

- - - - -

TL;DR: For PBB’s “New Era,” I want a more competitive game structure with real agency through mechanics like HOH, POV, and Jury Vote. On casting, I want a wider age range with more housemates in their 30s and 40s, plus more experimental season themes and groupings that shape the season beyond the usual teen, adult, and celebrity setup.

That's all from me for now. I'm sure marami pa kayong naiisip dyan.

PBB Opinions that will get you this reaction?

And we want actual FLAMING hot takes, not room-temperature or widely accepted opinions like "Alyssa V. should've won Kumunity Season 10 over Anji" or "Collab 1 is the best season of the current decade."

Be as controversial as possible, as long as it doesn't cross any boundaries. Please note that the moderator team will remove any discriminatory comments.

Keep the discussion civil and respectful when expressing your opinions. If you're doing this right, expect people to disagree with you.
