I’m currently 1.5 months into my new FA role after coming from an accounting background with about 1 year of experience. I’ve been working hard to understand the metrics, and now I can handle month-end close on my own, but I know there’s still so much to learn. I’m also learning new systems like SAP, Tableau, and Coupa, while actively improving my Excel skills.

There are some questions of mine, if you can help provide some advice, that would be greatly appreciated!

- If you were starting over as a new FA, what would you focus on the most?
- What skills or knowledge made the biggest difference in your growth?
- How did you progress in your role over time?
- What helped you go from just processing numbers to becoming a truly valuable and knowledgeable FA?
- What areas are most important for long-term development in this role?
- When did things really start to “click” for you as an FA or at a higher level?
- Any advice for someone early in their FA career who is still learning systems like SAP, Tableau, Coupa, and Excel?

Thank you for your time! Let the discussion begin!

My husband started a ministry, a home based church right now and is working part time. I am working full time and making more than him. We are moderately good financially. But we have had multiple unpleasant conversations because of this. Mainly because I think I prefer him to work full time and get the benefits. His part time is heavy labor and long distance. Whenever we even touch on this topic, job related I can feel the tension between us. I am trying to let go of my feelings. And be grateful. Husbands and wives, can you help me release this resentment? Or any advice for me? Thank you!

I updated my name with the Social Security office last year and received my new card. I also filed my 2025 tax return as “married filing jointly.” However, today when my husband checked our IRS transcript, it shows that no return has been filed and still lists my old name.

What’s confusing is that when I check my refund status using my SSN, it says the return was accepted. But the transcript says they haven’t received it and shows my old name.

What should I do in this situation? I’ve seen suggestions about contacting a tax advocate, would that be necessary?
