Upgrading Hearing Aids - What is your favorite brand?

I had translab so no hearing on the right side and wear a CROS. I have been wearing Signias and they are just fine.

However, I have decided that I am obviously going to be wearing hearing aids for the rest of my life and it is time to get the best in class.

Working with my audiologist, I am going to cycle through the higher end brand for one week at a time and then upgrade.

Yesterday, I got fitted with Resound hearing aids. So far, better than my Signias. Less background clacking. You know like the little noises that are way too loud.

Would you recommend yours and if so why or why not?

Initial Diagnosis and Tests

I have posted before about how much better I am after TransLab to remove my small but problematic uninvited guest in March 2025.

Since I had an MRI and follow up last week, I have been reflecting a bit about this whole experience and why I faired so well.

When I first saw my lead doctor, who is not a neurosurgeon, he ordered all the test below. I had already had an MRI with contrast. The tests showed changes in balance so insurance covered PT with a specialist in his office. The ones I remember the most is blowing hot air in my ear, having to name girl's names that start with the letter "A" after the ear blow, wearing googles and following a dot, and whole lot of head shaking followed by reading an eye chart.

One and two were with one specialist and 3 - 7 were with the PT who specialized in balance disorders. These were spread over two appointments and each appointment took 90+ minutes. 3 -7 were repeated 3 months post op.

Are your doctors ordering these things? I know my neurosurgeon would not have as per his words he "does one thing and does it very well". He operates. I would have been lost if I had to rely on my neurosurgeon alone. Not that he is not great at the one thing he does well.

The balance and hearing loss along with how to cope came under my lead along with PT that was right for me. It was my lead who gave me solutions that worked for my post op tinnitus.

Tests below.

1.      Auditory Brainstem Response Test (ABR) for Bilateral acoustic neuromas (HCC); Sensorineural hearing loss, asymmetrical

2.      Videonystagmography (VNG) for Bilateral acoustic neuromas (HCC); Sensorineural hearing loss, asymmetrical

3.      Static Balance Test

4.      Dynamic Balance Test

5.      Gait

6.      Positional/IRV Testing:

7.      Oculomotor Exam

Hope someone gets some value of this.

From My Collection: Garnet Ring

I honor of the 4th of July. I am wearing blue and red stones today. Pendant is a blue lapis with a small diamond. Will take a pic later and post.

Today's ring is one I inherited from my mother many moons ago. I had the center stone ,which was a scratched-up Peridot, replaced in the early 70s with this beautiful Garnet.

The stone is beautiful. But, the detail work on the setting is what is so interesting. The flowers are pink gold and the leaves are green gold. The rest is yellow gold.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

What do you guys think? Is that stone worth more than I paid in 1970? Thinking about whether I should insure it.

Thanks!

Chin Up!

For all of you out there that are newly diagnosed, I just came to say I know there are others like me who did not have a rough experience and have returned to a normal life. My surgery was in March 2025. I was driving at 4 weeks. Could have been sooner but I am a bit of a chicken. Back to the gym at 3 months and at 7 months better balance than before surgery.

Yes - I have no hearing in my right ear. But, I knew that going in. I wear a cross over and while it took a spell to get used to the loss of localization. It is really ok.

I cannot say that I love super loud and busy environments either. But I deal with it. I don't think I can ever go to a New Orleans Saints game again though as the Dome goes wild. I did attend several Mardi Gras parades though!

Tinnitus is completely under control with Betahistine and white noise.

I do get fatigued. But, that could be because I am a 66 yo raising a 6 yo and it is hotter than Hades where I live!

Did not have nor do I have any facial paralysis. My surgeons were to leave part of the tumor if it meant impacting my facial nerves.

My balance is better than it was before surgery, I exercise regularly, cook, garden, knit, play with little one, eat out, go to parties, etc.

PS - I am just thankful to be rid of the nasty little uninvited guest.

Shipping to in the hot summer months - Thoughts

What are ya'll thoughts on shipping skincare if you live in area that is HOT in the summer months?

I tend to avoid most makeup and have tried to avoid ordering skincare in July, August and September.

However, I just decided to switch to Epicutis and did not plan very well.

30% off at YSS which is terrific!

Thanks!

Has anyone else noticed that Your Skincare Source packing list no longer has a coupon code or is it just me?

Thankfully, I have some old packing lists that have the a code.

Today's Bracelet Stack - What should I add?

This is today's ruby, diamond and white gold stack. What should I add next?

I was thinking about buying the diamond bangle in yellow gold and then adding by yellow gold diamond paperclip bracelet to the mix.

Help me decide .Local or Online

I see my estie regularly for laser treatments, hydrafacials and dermaplaning.

She is not one to push products, (Epicutis push was the first) but helps me build a good routine.

I feel a tad bit guilty when I buy the products she recommends online at a discount. REJUVENT or Your Skin Care Source

These products are already crazy expensive.

Thoughts?

Giving up on Tret! What is your fav over the counter retinal/retinoid?

I am throwing in the towel. I feel like I am always teetering on the edge of irritation. I will stick with lasers, dermaplaning and hydrafacials.

Has anyone tried Hydrinity's RetaXome Daily Retinal?

If you had to choose between Hydrinity's or SkinBetter Alpharet Intense which would you choose?

I have used Alpharet Intense with no issues. Not sure if I saw benefits.. but, that is a long haul thing.

As 67, I am honestly wondering if I will see the benefits from either.

Thanks!

Epicutis.Thoughts on this line

Just had BBL and waiting my face to numb before Clear and Brillant.

Aesthetician is talking up Epicutis. Simple routine with results.

Way fewer steps than my complex routine.

I am 67. My skin tends towards rednesd and I am allergic to fragrance. I use mostly Alastain with ZO Eye products, Neocutis Eye, Hydrinity Prelude and Hyacyn Spray.

Anyone have experience with Epicutis?

Did u like it?

Should I get this appraised before listing?

I purchased this gorgeous pendant and chain during one of Pearl Paradise's Online Events for $1880. My gut tells me this was a pretty great deal on this size pearl surrounded by natural diamonds. What are your thoughts? Should I have this appraised before listing insuring? I typical insure anything over $2K with a lower threshold for smaller items like pendants and earrings.

Hard to get a good picture of the luster on this beauty! Just noticing how you can see the reflection of the lamp behind me and the shadow of the doorway. Mirror like!

Thanks in advance!
