Raising a gender non-conforming child in a conservative neighborhood on long island (apparently 80% here vote Republican!). I try to stay open minded but I feel like the topic of transgender youth is everywhere right now (Thanks MAGA!). My child's school is supportive but they have also endured teasing incidents from peers. I've also unfortunately heard second hand gossip about my child. A parent wanting to meet me at the school to discuss this and asking a neighbor about my child's attire for a pool party. There's a lot of positive interactions too but of course I'm just a scared mom and trouble feeling safe around here. Guess I'm just looking for some uplifting messages or advice.

What is it like living in St. Augustine? I see some gorgeous communities and it looks like a dream to raise a family in. Nature, beaches and warm weather are important to me. We live in NY currently. We have great summers but they're over too fast and the winter feels brutal.

NY is all I've known, I am left leaning with political views. Moving to a red state might be an adjustment but I can also tune out politics as long as people are respectful.
