League Classic Feedback: Bugs, QoL Suggestions, and Concerns About Riot's Punishment System
I've been playing League Classic on the PBE throughout the last week and wanted to share some bugs, suggestions, and feedback for Riot.
Bugs
- The Classic Pass doesn't let me claim/redeem IP, Blue Essence, or Random Rune rewards. All other rewards seem to work normally.
- I'm Level 8 on the Classic progression, but I still can't equip Quintessence runes, even though they should unlock at that level. All other rune categories appear to be working correctly.
Suggestions
- Unify Champion Mastery between Classic and the standard Summoner's Rift game. It doesn't make much sense that a player with over a million mastery points on a champion has zero mastery in Classic, especially when ARAM already shares mastery progression despite being much more different from Summoner's Rift than Classic is.
- Allow players to use all skins from the live game in Classic. If that's technically impossible, at least make Legendary, Exalted/Sanctuary, and Hall of Legends skins available. Many players spent hundreds of dollars on these cosmetics and should be able to use them across game modes.
- Add Champion Swap and Role Swap during Classic Champion Select.
- Restore the 2013 Ahri, where Charm amplified magic damage.
- Consider making Master Yi's Alpha Strike function more like the modern version regarding projectile interactions. Currently, Yi can die during Alpha Strike from projectiles that visually should have been dodged, which feels inconsistent.
- Some champions still use modern animations while wearing their Classic skins (I've noticed this on Sion and Master Yi so far).
- Add the original support starter items, such as Relic Shield and Ancient Coin.
- Restore flat Armor Penetration instead of Lethality on Classic items. Some items on the PBE currently grant Lethality, even though that stat didn't exist during the Season 3 era. Lethality was introduced years later, so it feels out of place in a Classic experience. Items such as The Brutalizer and Youmuu's Ghostblade should grant flat Armor Penetration, just as they originally did. In general, I'd like to see item stats remain as faithful as possible to their original 2013 versions whenever feasible.
Feedback on the punishment system and Riot Support
I also want to raise a concern about the current punishment system and Riot's customer support.
Over the last few days, I've seen multiple players report receiving 1–3 day suspensions after playing Kassadin on the PBE. According to those players, they contacted Riot Support and received only generic responses.
The same happened to me.
I received a 3-day suspension for allegedly "intentionally trying to lose." I strongly disagree with that conclusion. I won the game, finished with the second-highest damage on my team, participated in nearly half of my team's kills, and have the replay available.
I submitted a support ticket asking a simple question: What specific action did I take that constituted intentional griefing?
Instead of answering, Riot sent a generic template explaining what griefing is, stated that the punishment had been manually reviewed, and closed the ticket. They never identified the conduct that supposedly justified the suspension, nor did they allow any further discussion by automatically closing future tickets about the case.
My criticism isn't simply about receiving a 3-day suspension. It's about transparency and customer support.
If a player can be suspended without being told which specific action violated the rules, how is that player supposed to avoid repeating the same behavior? And how can players feel confident that the same thing won't happen to their main accounts in the future?
I'm not asking Riot to agree with me automatically. I'm asking for a support process that provides clear explanations and treats players with the respect they deserve. If a punishment is justified, Riot should be able to explain exactly why. If it cannot, then the current support process needs significant improvement.
Edit / Additional Observation
I also want to add something that may be worth investigating.
My suspension occurred on Friday (July 17) at around 9:40 PM after playing a game as Kassadin. As of Sunday night, I was still seeing new reports from other players claiming they had also received 1–3 day suspensions after playing Kassadin on the PBE.
I can't say with certainty what's causing these suspensions, but if there is any issue with the automated detection system or with how these matches are being reviewed, I hope Riot investigates it as soon as possible.
The PBE exists so players can test the game and report bugs. If players are being suspended after playing a specific champion—even if these cases ultimately have different explanations—it discourages people from testing the mode and reporting feedback.
For now, I would personally recommend avoiding Kassadin on the PBE until Riot clarifies what's happening.
Hopefully this is just an isolated issue that can be identified and fixed quickly.
