At what Networth do looks no longer matter?

So of course if a guy is rich he could get just about any girl possible no matter his looks. How rich exactly does he have to be though?

I see a lot of software engineers online and most of them seem to be too work focused/don’t show their girlfriends to have HTB/Stacy-lites.

At what Networth does someone just become unmoggable would you say?

Johnson & Johnson co-op timeline?

Hello everyone! I recently applied for a co-op with Johnson & Johnson, and was wondering if anyone has gone through their intern/co-op interview pipeline and could provide some insight?

For reference, I applied about 2 weeks ago, and received a one way interview this last week which I completed Tuesday. It had a 4 day expiration date, so should I expect some sort of update sometime next week? Thanks in advance for any help!

If you’re a New Grad/student, EDUCATION SHOULD BE AT THE TOP OF YOUR RESUME!

Keep seeing resumes where new grads or current students are asking for advice on their resumes, and I’d say about half of their resumes have weird ordering format (summary, skills, work experience, education)

If you’re a recent student or current one, you want to make that known right away!

Anyone else hate the ‘cooked’ ‘put the fries in the bag’ ‘cracked’ lingo circlejerk?

Little bit of a pointless rant here but I just hate the constant ‘oh you’re cooked’ ‘Just put the fries in the bag’ material? I feel it’s just getting old.

It was fun originally, but now it’s just lacking originality. It doesn’t help that it seems most of the people that say this from my perspective are apart of the Bay Area striving/snobby community, which I also am not the biggest fan of.

Not inherently dissing people who still talk like that, but just wanted to see if any other people agree with me

Do clients for EPC’s ever do hair folicle tests?

Incoming EE intern for an EPC. Specifically I’ll be working on/in a power plant. I already passed pre employment piss test but did smoke a little in April, and worried about potential hair tests at client sites, as I’ll be doing both in office and in the field work. I’ve 100% quit now and don’t intend to use anymore. As far as I know it won’t be a DISA/Federal project.

Any advice/experience would be greatly appreciated!

Any interns/FT in power ever hair follicle tested?

Incoming EE in power intern, and will be doing some work in the field. I already passed pre employment but have become a bit worried about on-site drug tests. I stopped smoking in April so I’m not terribly worried about urine tests, just hair ones that go back longer.

Any interns/FT employees in power ever get hair follicle tested? I’m assuming those in federal do but I wanted some insight on power

Hello everyone, I’m currently a junior CS student at a no name school in the US. I’ve been thinking about my future lately and am stuck at a bit of a crossroads career/education wise and would like to seek some advice.

I’ve had one internship so far and one upcoming. My previous one was a Controls Software internship where I designed and tested PID loops for industrial automation. My upcoming one is also in a similar role, just a different industry. Because of this path, I’m severely lacking in pure software engineering experience if I wanted to pursue that post grad.

However, if I were to lean more related to my experience, I run into the issue of not being eligible for the FE exam, which most companies seem to prefer if not require for new grads. And so, if I don’t receive a RO from my upcoming internship, I feel I may be stuck in a bit of a weird area.

One idea that I’ve recently thought about was a masters of robotics. I feel like it would be a good way to tie all my skills together and make me more employable (or, wait out this current job market). If I’m being completely honest I have not done anything related to robotics at all, but things like drones (especially automated) seem really interesting to me. I’m taking Machine learning and Artificial intelligence next fall, and would like to tie those into my research project in the spring if I were to do something similar to my interests.

If I were to do this, I’d have to take my relatively easy senior year and make it much more challenging (taking a few extra math courses to better prepare myself). And I’m unsure if there’s really that much extra value in going for a masters.

Would you say it was a worthwhile investment? Any help/tips are greatly appreciated!

First off, I want to state that I’m very fortunate to be in my current situation, I understand how bad the market is and how it’ll continue to worsen so I’m not taking my current opportunity for granted at all!

Now with that disclaimer out of the way, I’m a Junior CS student at a no name school in the US, and I was very fortunate to have a successful internship recruiting cycle. In the end, I had two offers. One for a local bank as a SWE and one with an Engineering consultant where I’d be working on industrial automation engineering, very little if any actual coding (for reference I previously interned elsewhere in controls).

I ended up going with the engineering consultant offer for a few reasons (was in my dream city, better pay, job market for that field seemed more stable then SWE, etc) and I was very happy with what I had. I met some other interns and we all signed a lease for the summer so I was locked into the internship.

However, about a week later I get follow up from a HM at IBM who wanted to reach out for an interview. From the phrasing and lack of recruiter outreach, this seemed to be one of those situations where it would be a one round interview with the HM and then a potential offer, which happened to one of my buddies. However, due to me accepting my offer and signing my lease I had to turn this down. I asked to interview for a fall co-op but I was informed there were no spots.

Now, I’m constantly living with a sense that I missed multiple opportunities. When interviewing for the automation internship I learned that they expect most of their employees to become licensed engineers. And since I’m a CS student I am woefully underprepared/ have no clue how to prep for something like that. Ontop of that my dream goal would be to move to NYC, and there’s not much of a market for the market I’m entering. Now I’m regretting turning down both the bank and IBM heavily.

How have you guys dealt with situations like this? Did the feeling truly ever leave?
