Feeling Trapped in MNC Chennai
Hey everyone, I recently joined a company in Chennai for a software-related role. But after joining, I realized that there’s basically no real software work for me — everything is outsourced to third-party developers. None of the team members or even the team lead seem to understand the technical details of software development.
On top of that, I was sometimes asked to do unrelated physical work like tightening bolts, etc., which made no sense for my role. It felt humiliating and pointless, so I decided to resign.
But now the problem is, as per their policy, if someone resigns within 6 months, they have to pay 1.5 months of gross salary and serve a 3-month notice period. I tried explaining that my position was unnecessary and that I wasn’t doing any real software work, but they didn’t care.
They’ve started deducting the 1.5-month salary amount from my pay in parts, and the HR process is extremely unorganized — there’s no portal or system to resign, and every time I visit HR, they just say “come tomorrow.” It’s been mentally exhausting, and I’m honestly feeling very low and depressed about how this is going.
Has anyone been through something similar? Is there anything I can do to get out of this situation peacefully, or at least recover part of my dues? Any advice or support would mean a lot right now.
