After my friend got screwed on a 1 BR lease, I mapped out what Fremont actually pays in rent

A friend signed a 1BR thinking he landed a good deal. Then his neighbor mentioned they signed the same unit, same layout, for a few hundred less plus a free month. He only found out because they happened to talk.

It got us thinking why there's no way to just see what people around you are actually paying. Not the asking price. What they signed for, what concessions they got, what utilities are bundled, what the building is actually like to live in. Why don't tenants have tools that help them decide better?

So I built it. Free and anonymous. Drop a pin with what you pay and see how you compare. See what concessions others got, when they moved in, how rent changed over time. See what people are saying about the place before you move in. Or get continuous updates as more pins arrive in the area to get a better read on renewal/move in prices.

P.S: Launched in SF recently and people kept adding in Freemont anyway

After my friend got screwed on a 1 BR lease, I started mapping what others pay in rent

When my signed a 1BR lease he thought he got a solid deal. Then he talked to his neighbour who mentioned they signed the same unit, same layout, for a few hundred less plus a free month.

Got us thinking why there's no way for tenants have tools that help them decide better. See the actual signed for prices, renewals offered, what concessions they got, what utilities are bundled in and actually work, what the building is actually like to live, from the voices of others.

So I built it. Anonymous and free. Drop a pin with what you pay and see how you stack up. See what concessions others got, when they moved in, how rent shifted. Check what people are saying about the place before you move in. Or get rolling updates as more pins land in the area to get a clearer picture of renewal/move in prices.

P.S: Launched in SF recently and noticed people adding pins unprompted in Walnut creek.

My friend had signed a 1BR thinking he got a good deal. He talked to his neighbour after moving in and found they were paying $300/month less and also got a free month for the same layout.

We started thinking why we don't have a place we can check out others are actually paying, what the quality of life is before moving in, what issues there would be from the perspective of other people who lived there.

So i built a map for it. Free, and anonymous. Drop a pin with what you pay and see how you compare. See what concessions others got, when they moved in, how rent changed. See what people are saying about the place before you move in.

A friend of mine signed a 1BR and he thought it was a good deal. His neighbor mentioned they signed the same place, same layout, for few hundreds less and a month free on top. My friend only found out because he happened to talk his neighbour.

We started discussing why there's nowhere to just see what people around you are actually paying. Not the asking price. What they actually signed for, what concessions they got, what broker fees they paid.

So I built a map for it. Anonymous, no account. Just drop a pin with what you pay and see how you compare. See what concessions others got, when they moved in and how the rent changed. See what others are mentioning about the place they live in before you move in.
