Safeway.com is the worst E-commerce I've ever used

Not only are the prices extremely high, but the site doesn't even tell you clearly if your coupon applied successfully for each item. Which caused me to make several mistakes.

They also lock up you gift card balance into Safeway Cash for online orders, forcing me to spend $30+ for pickup. Then when you make any refund because they subbed an item completely different in price, they force refund Safeway Cash before credit card, forcing me to place another $30+ order. When refunding items they don't give you back the coupon or point values like other stores.

The next time I placed an order, the shopper bought 3 items for a B2G2 Free deal. I was then charged full price for all 3, more than buying 4. Then an item was changed, leading to the total dropping to $49, and removing my $5 off $50 coupon. Then they denied part of my refund request, and refunded the rest of the incorrect items yet again as Safeway cash. So now I have funds stuck in Safeway Cash, $10 lost in coupons, and $35+ in overcharges.

This is really quite unsurprising for a company that actively sues its competition with CEQA lawsuits (Vallejo, King City, etc.) or lobbies the city to prevent zoning other grocery stores (Tahoe) to maintain a monopoly. Safeway is a total fraud that should be stopped.

YSK: You can still get 10% back on Hotels.com/Expedia

If you use Walmart+, you get 10% back from Walmart+ Travel which can be redeemed at Walmart for cash. Same with forU (Safeway), you also get 10% back, but as shopping credit. Or Hotels.com Canada, which gives 10% back from 10 previous stays. Or Rocketmiles (an Expedia company), which gives as 10-35% back as Amazon Gift Cards or airline points. Even better, combine with Rakuten Cashback for even more money back.

Why YSK: All of these methods replace the Hotels.com rewards program that was nerfed a few years ago.
