I'm stuck on the flat surfaces during emergency cleaning. Where do I put stuff that doesn't have a home?

I'm trying to do an emergency clean, but I'm getting paralyzed on what to do with clutter on flat surfaces. Here's my situation: My husband has ADHD and needs to visually see things or he forgets they exist. But I have AuDHD and the clutter is overwhelming for me. We're basically working against each other's brain wiring.

Example: Our kitchen counter has a basket of random stuff, an old coffee machine I'm trying to sell, and whatever my husband drops there so he can visually track it. He asks me 100 times a day where something is, so I just leave everything out so he doesn't have to ask. But it's driving me insane and I don't know where else to put it. When I throw things in a basket to hide them, it just sits there forever and becomes invisible anyway—defeating the whole purpose of his visual system.

How do I emergency clean flat surfaces when: Some stuff needs a visible home (his ADHD accommodation)? Where does the "temporary overflow" go during an emergency clean if not the garage (which is already full) or a basket (which gets lost)?

dELiA*s leopard print coat

It’s so soft and beautiful! My mom never let me buy anything from dELiA*s, so I’m extra happy 😊 Best $20 I’ve spent on an early birthday gift to myself!

I’m just getting into reselling clothing, so I asked family and friends if they had anything they didn’t want anymore. I did a little “collection day” yesterday and started going through everything today.

One of the bags… I open it, and the first shirt has bleach stains all over it. Next one has a massive hole in the armpit. Then I grab another and it literally has dried bodily fluids on the sleeve. Like… what??

I’m honestly so grossed out I want to just toss the whole bag, but now I’m wondering if there could be anything decent buried in there.

Would you keep digging through it or just call it a loss and throw it out?
