Jam with my newly bent piece of gear

I wouldn't say it's my favorite piece of gear (it simply can't do feedback because of its circuit design), but from now on it's definitely earned a permanent spot in my setup as an enhancer.

After the bend which, by the way, was surprisingly quick even by my standards I became even more convinced that this mixer is going to be part of my video chain as a slave to the main mixer and a master for the source.

On the bright side, I finally discovered DSK. I had to set up a VM and spent about three hours in total hunting down the software, but the result is pretty damn good.

The only thing that sucks is that the MX70 really is a product of its time. Instead of storing frames on NAND, it stores them in RAM. So every time I reboot the thing, all the frames just disappear (╥_╥).

circutbend ideas?

I have an NE555 timer, 1 kΩ, 5.6 kΩ, and 10 kΩ resistors, ceramic capacitors, 47 µF and 100 µF electrolytic capacitors, 1 kΩ, 5 kΩ, and 10 kΩ potentiometers, and a few toggle switches. That's all the spare components I have available for circuit bending.

Is brushing actually doing anything?

I'm starting to feel like brushing is pointless and I'd like a sanity check from people who've been at this longer.

This is my first pair. Every time I brush them, all I see is white dust appearing in the crevices, and it feels like I'm losing progress, not gaining it.

Like what is brushing with a metal brush actually supposed to do? It feels like I'm literally scraping off the oil layer and grinding the nut itself into dust that then clogs the pores.

Am I doing something wrong? I have both a metal brush and a nylon one. The nylon brush doesn't remove the white dust at all no matter how long I work at it. The metal one seems to just create more of it.

How hard should I be pressing? And is the white dust normal at this stage or a sign something's off?

Any tips appreciated.
