I built a no‑BS datamosh tool – would you actually use this?

’ve been messing with datamoshing for a while, but every tool I found either needed a CS degree or spat out cryptic error messages. So I built my own – and it’s completely local (runs on your machine, nothing uploaded anywhere), with a clean, Canva‑style interface that literally anyone can open and start using in 10 seconds.

What it does (in plain English):

  • Drag in clips → they appear as filmstrips on a single timeline.
  • Click between two clips → transition (they melt into each other).
  • Click anywhere on a clip → bloom (that pulsating/exploding glitch effect).
  • Trim clips by dragging the edges.
  • Reorder clips with left/right buttons.
  • Hit space to preview, export as MP4 – with audio (yes, the audio stutters along with the bloom, so it actually syncs).

Why it’s different:

  • No “I‑frames”, “P‑frames”, “RIFF”, “XVID” – it’s all hidden.
  • One‑click effects, sensible defaults, but you can tweak bloom duration if you want.
  • The timeline scales properly (scroll + zoom), so you never lose track of long clips.
  • Everything stays on your computer – no cloud, no registration, just a standalone .exe (Windows) or you can run it from source.

I’ve been testing it for weeks and it’s stable, but I’m curious: is this something you’d actually use? What features would make it a must‑have for you? Should I clean up the packaging and release it properly?

Try the build (I’ll drop a link if enough people are interested) or just tell me what sucks – I’m all ears.

Cheers!

five radio theremin *HELPP*

Normally theremins contain two radios. No more, no less. And yeah, I know it's technically possible to make a one-radio theremin... but that's not why I'm here.

See, I went down a bit of a rabbit hole and found this website where someone made a theremin using three radios. I thought that was pretty cool, but... just three? I mean, I've heard of that several times before.

So naturally my next thought was, what if someone made a four-radio theremin?

After a while of digging around the internet, I actually found a post on r/CircuitBending where the OP had built a theremin out of four AM radios. The only explanation they gave was:

>

Which got me thinking...

Just for the love of the game, kind of like how mathematicians study pure math or knot theory just because it's interesting, would it be possible to build a five-radio theremin? Or six? Or even more? I'm not asking because it would necessarily be useful. I just think it's a fascinating idea, and I'm curious if there's some theoretical limit that makes it impossible, or if it's just something nobody's really bothered to try.

Basically, before I waste my time (and probably my money), is there any reason a five-or-more-radio theremin couldn't work?

finally got the Olympus Camedia C-55 Zoom fully bent.

I finally got the Olympus Camedia C-55 Zoom fully bent!

I started by breaking out the suspected camera sensor pins and testing combinations there (see profile for pics). That gave me the first melting/dragging effects and confirmed that I was probably in the right part of the image signal path.

After that, I moved closer to the analog-to-digital chip area and started experimenting around the CCD/ADC signal path. The soldering around that chip was honestly brutal. The pads are tiny, even under a microscope. I lifted a few traces and even had to remove some small transistors/components to keep going...

Somehow the camera survived, and that’s where the more stable and interesting bends started showing up: melting, horizontal tearing, color shifts and heavy image-signal distortion!

I still haven’t mapped every possible combination yet. These are just a few of my favorite results so far, and there were some other cool effects and a lot of colors but i just love the black purple lol. This camera has so much more to give!

Huge thanks to u/theglorioustopsail for helping me identify the ADC area. That pointed me exactly where I needed to look!

The final build is closed up in a 3D printed case now, but the exposed setup photo looked too good not to use.

FZ10 pink goodness

Got a FZ10 from u/NOYSTOISE a bit more than a month ago.

It's my first time experimenting with a circuit bent camera and it's been a blast. I've had film cameras in the past but after about a decade of inactivity, it feels nice to get back into the hobby!

Here's my first photo dump using said camera. For some reason it jibes really well with salmon pink which is my favorite colour, almost all my favorite shots have some of it.

Hope you enjoy the pictures, constructive criticism is welcome! Good day

Glitch Scorpion

I’m a scorpion keeper, and I recently completed my first circuit-bent toy cameras. So here are some glitch photos of one of my scorpions (Androctonus australis). :)

Casio Sa-2 troubleshooting

Im currently bending an SA-2 and mixing different techs from Ghazala, Casper, and Gleix.

The Issue im having is installing a power starve crash!!!!

I have 500 OHM potentiometers and they only have an effect for about an eight or a quarter of a turn. They create the effect no problem but there is very little room to explore with them.

Curious if anyone on this board has any sort of experience with the voltage starve mods/what one might recommend here.....

Im nearly thinking about installing a ten turn 200 ohm potentiometer but not looking to spend the money on one if there is a more practical alternative route that could be taken....

A520 Build, New Shop & Sample Images

My Canon A520 build is finally complete, using what I believe to be the best combination of ADC colour bends from this body.

I am also launching a store soon which will have more copies of this build and eventually more complex designs.

I'll be shipping for free within Canada at what I think is a very reasonable price ($400 CAD), which includes batteries, SD card & colour matched wrist strap.

Shoot me a DM if you want to pre-claim one of the colours from the first drop (Grey Smoke livery is unavailable since it's for a future A540 build).

Check out my new IG as well @artifact_labs

3:30am Neapolitan

this bend is mostly by recording to tape and re-digitizing back and forth a few times, with some audio injection for fun. I'm fresh out of the hospital, working on something neat for you guys. Just figured you might want to see some side-by-sides of VHS effects.

Canon Powershot A570IS circuit bend help

Hi, I'm currently trying to follow glitchwerk's "Camera Bending Tips & Tricks" guide (https://fubar.space/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Glitchwerks-Camera-Bending-TipsnTricks-at-Fubar2k22.pdf) to circuit bend a Canon Powershot a570 IS and was under the impression that the circuit would be similar to the a540 that he uses. This unfortunately was not the case and I have not been able to find any form of circuit diagram or schematic that shows where the bend points from the a540 would be respectively in the a570. There's only one cluster of solder points on the a570 IS (circled in red) that have a similar number of points, but they are arranged much differently so I don't know what each point functions as. If anyone has any experience with the a570 IS or a similar model at all please bestow your wisdom, and if anyone knows how has the exact diagram for the color index that would be super helpful too. Thank you in advance!

Repurpose a security camera?

Hi everyone!!!

I don't know it's this sub is the exact one for my question (if u have another in mind I would be happy to be redirected) but I recently got a security camera and I was wondering how I could transform it into a working recording camera?

I'll link a pic of the cam and a similar model I think matches the one I have with the specs and cables!

Thanks!!!
