$3 thrift find. Definitely seen better days but it works well.
I swear I could have spread the old belt on a cracker with how far gone it was. Definitely an unexpectedly messy job to change it.
Is there any reason this this vca schematic wouldn’t work or anything that can be done to improve it?
Found a minty sealed Shaq Fu at the flea market this morning
Grindstormer original pcb repair
I was reading up on what actually causes these to fail, and it’s honestly pretty straightforward, the vias become disconnected. I was seeing people had success with baking which certainly can reflow the connections. I’ve heard people say cleaning the vias can fix it but this makes no sense to me and it’s more likely the force of sticking a pick in the hole forces the vias outward and reconnects them accidentally if you’re lucky. The go to everyone says is use a donor board, which isn’t a bad solution, but the original board can probably be saved in many cases. All I did is scrape back the traces around the vias and connect either side with repair wire, meter it, then coat it with some of that tiktok epoxy. Theoretically, it shouldn’t fail again after this, at least for the most common reason they fail.
I liked making the first one so much that I decided to do another
Lovepedal eternity clone. Symmetrical 4148 diodes. TL072 op amp.
Found a Genesis 3 over the weekend. Any mods worth doing to it?
I haven’t opened it yet, but the serial number suggests that it’s going to likely be a va2, so the master system fix is out. Any suggestions of some mods one can do to a Genesis 3? I will say, it’s been years since I played one and I forgot how clean the video signal is out of box. It’s nice.
Finally reached a successful finish in my first p2p build!
I definitely installed the jack backwards, so it wasn’t a perfect execution, but a simple fix and it’s now fully functional!
For those interested, this is a clone of the Black Arts Tone Works Pharaoh with bc107b transistors in place of the 2n5089’s
Progress on my first point to point build
I’ve certainly learned quite a bit from doing this, but it’s going along well so far.
Trying my hand at some point to point
I’ve never really made a point to point that was more complex than a booster or buffer, so this is very much a learning experience. I wasn’t sure how I wanted to approach it, so I drew out a couple rough diagrams and broke down the circuit into stage blocks. I’ll probably lay them out on some cardboard and draw up the map for the bus lines then. I still need the pots and switches to make this happen, so I’ll post an update when I have some progress on this project. This particular circuit I’m trying is a Black Arts Toneworks Pharoaoh circuit with BC107b transistors in place of the 2n5089.
The germanium transistors are some random Soviet ones I got before the war but I don’t remember the part number. I honestly found them very easy to mess up with point to point because they are literally just glass tubes held shut with solder so I’ve learned it’s super easy to pull a leg out, hence a the spaced triangular configuration I went with.
I feel like this one gets slept on too hard
Marlo falls into that weird category of soccer/futbol games that aren’t sports games. Not a particularly common game but not unobtainable. Certainly a strange one, definitely worth playing if you like platformers and have never tried it.
I give you: my favorite bootlegs in my collection
These are Russian bootlegs I picked up off eBay over a decade ago. I wish I got more, I love their aesthetics. Tried to stick to things but don’t otherwise exist in my region when I chose them.
