I’m joining UBC this fall and I’m wondering if I should do the jump start? How many students actually did it?

I’m wondering for UBC do they only care about my top six average or do they use my grades in all the courses related to my chosen program?
if my overall average changes only by 1% but some courses‘ average dropped by 4% to 5%, is that a problem? Do they pay attention to grade changes in individual courses?
I’m wondering how likely is UBC going to revoke the offer if my average dropped by 3.5%. On the website they said dropping by 4 % is fine, does that mean even if my grades in English dropped from 98 to 90 it will still be fine as long as my average in all the required courses doesn’t drop much? I'm entering Mcmaster engineering this fall, and i heard that for engineeirng students you don't need to choose your courses because there are so many courses you have to take and there isn't any options for you? Is that true? Is it like I don't even need to spend much time thinking about my course selection?
I dont have free choice and I'm wondering what it takes to get into computer engineering in my second year? Do I need to be the top 15% of my class? or the top 10%.
I know it varies each year but apporximately how competitive is it?
