Diy Plein air easel

I’m wanting to go out and plein air paint but keep putting it off because “I don’t have the setup or equipment” but then I never invest in one because I’m not sure if plein air painting is something I see myself doing alot of in the future. it’s feeling like an excuse to me. (I’m an oil painter)

Realistically, what is the absolute most bare minimum setup or equipment I can use to comfortably plein air paint?

I own various pallets, a spare square glass one , a few cheap wooden ones, a larger wooden one that I typically use, and one plastic one that has a lid that closes but I hate using it cause of how small it is.

I also own a small tripod that I could use to diy an easel.

If I used mostly nothing but what I already own, do you think I could diy some sort of easel?

I also want to mention that I have painted outdoors before, but sitting on a log praying my expensive medium doesn’t get knocked over is something I’m tired of worrying about.

Watts atelier or NMA?

Hello I’m trying to improve on my art skills and grow as an artist and sharpen up my understanding of fundamentals. The hardest thing for me is not having a structure of what exactly I should be learning and the absolute biggest thing is not getting or having any feedback of my art by professionals whose skill exceeds my own. I was considering joining online art courses to get that feedback and structure. I considered Watts as all the assignments are graded and you can submit your work for critique. Butttttt as some Reddit users said the wait time for the critique and grading is so long that after a point you don’t even submit your work as it just takes too long.

Then there’s NMA, that I’ve definitely considered as it’s a fraction of the price and you can learn nearly just as much if not more. but you have to pay for each individual critique which turns me off.

If you counted up the price, it would end up costing the same price if not less for me to do NMA and pay for each critique then to do watts and barely get the feedback I’m looking for. Although watts has a stricter structure which i kind of like.

Curious to hear anyone else’s opinions on these online courses
