Is $500k enough to live my life in Thailand without returning to USA?

The idea of living in Thailand for the rest of my life seems personally appealing. But I want your opinions and experiences before deciding to turn that dream into a reality. Money always enters the discussion in everything of course even when talking about moving to 2nd world economies like Thailand.

Presently I have $500k and want to know if it's possible to live out my life in Thailand without returning to USA. I'm 50, not married (hoping to get a Thai gf), slim, beacon of health, and tired of living in this fuckin shit stain NYC where I sadly live. USA is a piece of shit and I never want to return if I move anywhere on this planet.

That said, I've read that decent houses in Thailand are cheap and affordable. Food is cheap and tasty, and transportation is cheap too. Let me know what you guys think!!
