Ferritin of 25 but eat 1 lb of beef every day

Hi!

I am 3.5 months postpartum and my ferritin has been dropping every month since I gave birth, but I ordered half a cow of local grass fed beef and have eaten 1 lb of grass fed beef almost every single day since I gave birth.. and still ferritin is dropping.

What causes iron absorption issues? Clearly I’m having an issue.. I’m SO exhausted and now short of breath..

I did bleed for about 8 weeks (you usually bleed for 4-6) but I looked back at my ferritin levels pre pregnancy and they were also low.. so this is an ongoing absorption problem.

I’m considering getting a few iron IVs done just cause I am not able to function cause I’m so tired right now. But if I have an absorption issue will the iron from an IV even help?

Any advice? Please!

Thank you!

Overmethylation subdued with magnesium and niacin, now what?

Hi!

So I took a bunch of methyl donors together for weeks cause I’m uneducated and didn’t realize what I was doing, and then posted in this group and the good people of Reddit told me I was likely in a state of overmethylation and should take niacin and stop the methyl donors. I am homozygous for MTHFR. I’m waiting for my genetic results to come back (apparently it takes 4-6 weeks ugh) and I will post them in this group when they’re back but in the meantime what can I do?! Since taking the niacin and magnesium all of the horrible side effects (headache, racing heart, numb feeling/apathy, flu like feeling, lightheadedness, etc) stopped within 2 hours- but now a day later I am EXHAUSTED. So sleepy.

Is there anything I can take to increase my energy levels while I wait for my genetic results to come back? I have a newborn baby and this is making taking care of her a lot harder. Thanks!

Oh! I am also taking naturedao before every meal and it makes me dizzy but not sure if it’s contributing to the fatigue.

Hi…. I know this sounds insane but I am feeling so guilty about wanting to stop/fully deciding to stop EBF cause I’ve fainted twice in the last 2 weeks (paramedics called, ambulance etc) cause I keeping getting hypoglycemic and I believe it’s cause I’m EBF and baby is taking a lot of my glucose.

I just am so disappointed and sad that I can’t BF til at least 6 months. I do feel like a failure even though I know I shouldn’t.

But I keep thinking ok maybe if I just eat more then I can keep BF… but I’m trying to be realistic like I clearly can’t manage to eat enough with my current schedule and it would be crazy to continue BF.. right? Ugh so conflicted

Hi there!
I’ve been reading posts from this Reddit group for months now and I’m so impressed by some of the people in it! So much knowledge!

Anyway, I was inspired to purchase the strategene test and the 23andme generic test that includes like 500 genetic variants or something- it’s being shipped to me.

I am homozygous for MTHFR but other than that I have no idea what other genetic mutations I have- I’m very excited to post in this group when I finally know.

In the meantime, I’ve been just doing trial and error and winging it (I feel so stupid for doing this). So I take a prenatal that has folinic acid (1000 mcg) and hydroxocobalamin (550 mcg) and today I took a very small amount of methylcobalamin (3 drops- the dose on the bottle is 26 drops equal to 2500 ug). I’m 3 months postpartum and my brain just wasn’t working to think about how much of each I had taken…. And now I feel so insanely emotionally numb and exhausted and I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to reverse this feeling?

I also took choline today ( CDP choline 750 mg), vitamin C 1000 mg, creatine 1 gram.. I can tell you all the other ingredients in my prenatal if that would help. But ugh I hate this feeling it’s absolute horrible.

Just one other note: I read in one of these threads that TMG can be helpful so I took some about a week ago for a few days and felt SO mentally clear, energized and also like the derealization I’ve been living with for 15 years went away- but it caused noticeable swelling in my face which drove me crazy so I decided to stop til I can determine the correct dose I should be on based on my genetic test results.

Can’t wait to come back and post when I have more answers! Thanks!!!

Hi!

I am a first time mom and my husband and I went for a small, much needed vacation without our baby (in laws and a night nurse are watching her).

Anyway, at home, I breast feed and pump so she can have 1 bottle per day usually when my husband gives her a bottle in the morning while I sleep.

Since being on vacation, I’ve only been pumping because my baby isn’t with me, and I’ve rapidly developed very engorged breasts and have had 2 clogged ducts in the last 2 days.

I have no idea what to do and honestly don’t know why this happened.. I’m assuming I’ve been pumping to produce more than my baby actually eats when I’m home?

I was assuming she eats 3-6 oz every 2-3 hours so I’ve been pumping that much on vacation. But maybe I was wrong and she eats less?

How do I stop the over supply? How do I get rid of the clogged ducts? I really don’t want to develop mastitis and my boobs are very hard every 2 hours no.

I feel like this is snowballing quickly and the only relief I get is pumping to empty my breast but then am I creating more of an over supply?

I just purchased castor oil to rub on my breasts to try to break up clogged ducts, I took ibuprofen today, I bought cabbage to put in my bra tonight to sleep with, I’ve been trying to pump less/ not fully empty my breasts when I pump so I can reduce the over supply, I had my husband try to get one of the clogged ducts out (it kind of worked on the left side but then I developed one on the right side)….

Help! ChatGPT says to gradually reduce the amount I’m pumping and gradually space out the time between pumps…. Just scared I’m going to get mastitis from not fully emptying all of the milk out every 3 hours. I am such a novice.

Thank you for reading.
