Which schools ACTUALLY do right by their students?

I have been having this thought lately, and in the wake of the Cornell trajedy, I thought I would ask it officially. Which schools support their students best? I am using this sub because as I prepare to compile my list, I want to factor this in. It seems like a lot of universities (including the one I attend) care more about their prestige, financial interests, "neutrality", and maintaining a clean image than they do supporting their students and fighting for what is right. College administrations across the country all seem to prioritize the business more than the academia. Which colleges are the outlier to this?

Best major for medical school...from a practical standpoint

Hey everyone, I know that in terms of admissions, your undergrad major does not matter for med school as long as you hit the prereqs. But, from a practical standpoint, what would determine the best major to take?

The dilemma I face is that I just entered undergrad as a premed and I am juggling between two choices for my major. On the one hand, I entered as a Microbiology major because 1) I found it interesting and 2) I feel like if med school doesn't work out, microbio is applicable to a variety of fields. But, my other option was Nutrition, which I have a more natural inclination for and interest in, but I feel like job opportunities are more limited if med school doesn't work out.

Is it a good idea to take future job opportunities into account when deciding major? What have you guys done?

Edit: An important factor in this question is that I am not 100% confident where the future will take me. I know that an overwhelming number of people who grind for med school don't make it...I'd like to think that that doesn't apply to me, but who knows? What if I end up in that pool 4 years from now?

Jobs in Nutrition/Diet (besides dietetics obviously)

Hi everyone, I am currently a Nutrition major at my state university and went in intending on a pre-med track. I still aim for med school, and know that if that does not work out, I can pursue dietetics. But other than being a dietician, what jobs are there for someone with a Nutrition degree? I am willing to do any lvl grad school and whatever to advance my career. Let me know!

Feelings of disapointment/sadness while tapering down luvox

Hi everyone. I take fluvoxamine for my OCD and have been tapering down fluvoxamine for abt the last month because it made me very forgetful, and I am heading back to school so that would do me no good. I was at 100mg Night/25mg Morn, before I dropped to 75mg Night/25mg Morn, and I am not on 50mg Night/25mg Morn. I noticed after going down to 50, I noticed the following(these are from the notes I take tracking med effects:

-Still some increases in cleanliness thoughts(since going to 75mg from 100mg)

-A bit more conscious of what other people may be thinking abt me at any given point.

-Less forgetful, but still there.

-Feeling more susceptible to sadness/disappointment

Obviously I don't want to deteriorate into depression/SI/anything like that. How should I go about this? Any skills you guys have to manage this?

Alternative options other than physician?

This may be the wrong sub, but I went into undergrad thinking I was gonna be premed and a physician, but the more I think about how I want my life to turn out, I feel like the overbearingness of medicine is not for me. I want to work to live, not live to work. I am interested in healthcare/medicine/health/etc etc etc. My major is Microbioloy. What options are there for me?

EDIT: it seems my post mustve struck a bad nerve in some people so let me make some things more clear:

  1. I am very much open to a career in healthcare, or at least where my work improves the health & lives on people in some capacity, even if it is indirect.
  2. Ig because none of you know me, you will have to take my word for it that I am not asking this question because I am "lazy" or don't want to work hard. Since when did anything below being a physician automatically become a "lazy" job? What planet am I on?
