I stopped using deterrent sprays and this worked better

For months I was spraying my couch with a citrus deterrent, and honestly it barely worked: my cat just found a new corner to scratch. What actually turned things around was giving up on "stopping" the behaviour and focusing entirely on redirecting it instead: multiple scratching options around the house, placed exactly where she already liked to scratch.

Within a couple weeks she stopped going for the couch almost entirely. Curious if others have had the same experience. 🤷‍♂️
