I'm looking for a free VPN mainly to stay protected when I'm connected to public Wi-Fi, but I'm having a hard time figuring out which ones are actually trustworthy. A lot of free VPNs sound great until you start reading about data collection, ads, or other privacy concerns, so I'm trying to avoid downloading something that ends up doing more harm than good.
The free plans from Proton VPN, Windscribe, and PrivadoVPN seem to get recommended quite a bit, but I don't know how well they hold up in everyday use. I'm fine with some limitations if the service is reliable and genuinely respects user privacy. If you've used any of these recently, which one would you trust the most? Are there any other free VPNs you'd recommend, or is it better to skip the free options altogether and save up for a paid service?
I need a VPN for my Fire TV Stick to access blocked streaming apps in my region. I want something easy to install, fast, and reliable without buffering. I've heard about ExpressVPN, NordVPN, and IPVanish. Does anyone have experience with these on Firestick? Which one works best for streaming without lag or disconnects?
ExpressVPN, NordVPN, and IPVanish all have solid Firestick apps and work well for streaming. ExpressVPN is fastest but pricier. NordVPN offers good speed and value. IPVanish has a clean interface and minimal lag. All three unblock geo-restricted content reasonably well. Pick one with a native app to avoid complications, test the connection stability, and make sure it doesn't slow your streaming down too much.
I'm curious how most people here actually bought NordVPN. Did you use a coupon, wait for a seasonal sale, or simply purchase it at whatever price was available?
I've spent some time looking around, but most of the coupon websites seem to advertise deals that either don't work or end up being the same offer shown on NordVPN's homepage. That makes it difficult to know whether there are genuine discounts out there or if those sites are mostly just trying to earn referrals.
If you've subscribed within the past few months, what would you recommend doing today? Is there any strategy you'd suggest for getting the best value, especially if you're planning to sign up for a longer subscription?
I'll be traveling to a few different countries this year, so I'm trying to settle on a VPN before I leave. Most of my concerns revolve around using public Wi-Fi at airports, hotels, and cafés without worrying about security. At the same time, I'd like to keep access to the streaming services I normally use at home, so reliability is just as important as privacy.
I keep running into are ExpressVPN, NordVPN, and Surfshark, but it's hard to know how they actually perform once you're on the road. I'm looking for something with a wide range of server locations, dependable speeds, and the ability to get around regional restrictions without constantly switching servers. Good security features like strong encryption are a must, and I'd also prefer something that doesn't put too much strain on my phone's battery during long travel days.
For those who travel regularly, which VPN has been the most dependable in your experience? Have you had any issues using one in different countries, or found a provider that consistently works well for streaming and staying secure while away from home? I'd love to hear what has worked best for you and whether there are any options I should consider beyond the ones I mentioned.
I'm planning to use the Tor network for research, so I've been spending some time reading about the safest way to approach it before jumping in. One recommendation that keeps coming up is pairing Tor with a VPN, but there are so many opinions that it's hard to tell which providers are actually trusted by people who prioritize privacy.
Proton VPN, Mullvad, and NordVPN seem to be mentioned the most, although each one appears to have a different strength. Proton gets a lot of praise for its privacy focus, Mullvad is often recommended because of its anonymous account system, and NordVPN has features like Onion Over VPN. I'm more interested in long-term reliability and strong privacy protections than flashy extras.
For anyone who regularly uses Tor with a VPN, has the extra layer affected your browsing speed enough to be noticeable? I'm also curious whether features like a strict no-logs policy, kill switch, and DNS leak protection have made a meaningful difference in your experience, or if there are other providers you'd choose over the ones I mentioned.
I've been thinking about getting a vpn but i'm not sure where to start. My main concern is protecting my data when i'm on unsecured wifi networks like at hotels or train stations. I've read a lot of conflicting info about whether vpns are actually worth it or just marketing.
What I'm really looking for is something affordable that actually does what its supposed to do. I'm not trying to spend a fortune on this. I've heard some people say free options are risky but paid ones can be expensive too. What should I realistically expect to pay and is there a vpn that actually delivers on its promises without being overpriced?
Also I'm wondering if there are any red flags I should watch out for when choosing a vpn provider. Like what makes one trustworthy versus one that's just trying to make a quick buck. Any recommendations for someone who's just getting started with this stuff?
Hi! I'm going to be traveling in Asia and Australia over the next 8 months. I just found out that the medical software my company uses isn't possible to access from outside the US. I'm wanting to see if I can use a VPN or other tools to get the platform working in different countries. Has anyone else dealt with this? I know there may be some risks legally because of GDPR or compliance regulations for healthcare workers but I want to minimize as much difficulty as I can and be fully aware of what I have to take risks on.
I've been noticing that free VPNs are becoming increasingly useless for streaming lately. I used to be able to watch British TV shows without any issues using a free VPN, but now I'm constantly getting blocked. Every time I try to access a streaming site with my free VPN, I get a message saying I don't have access because I'm in a different country.
I've tried all the usual workarounds, private browsing mode, disabling adblocker, clearing cookies and none of it works anymore. Streaming sites seem to have gotten much better at detecting and blocking free VPN IP addresses. I was able to watch multiple shows just a few months ago with the same free VPN, but now nothing works.
It really feels like free VPNs are no longer viable for streaming. Everyone seems to be saying you need a premium VPN now, but I'm hesitant to pay for something when I used to do it for free. Has anyone else noticed this trend? Are free VPNs just becoming completely useless for streaming, or are there still some that work?
I'm planning to travel and work remotely for the next few months, moving between different countries. I'm worried about accessing my company's internal systems and cloud storage from different locations. My employer has some geo-restrictions on certain resources, and I want to make sure I can access everything securely no matter where I am.
I've heard that using a VPN can help with accessing company resources from abroad and also provides better security on public WiFi networks. What's a good VPN that works well for remote workers? I need something reliable with fast speeds for video calls and file uploads. Should I use a VPN that connects to my home country or just any stable VPN service? Any recommendations would be helpful. Thanks!
I've been using NordVPN for five years with no issues. Got a new Dell XPS laptop and installed NordVPN as one of the first apps. Immediately my WiFi stopped working completely, the icon disappeared from the desktop. I took it back to Best Buy thinking it was a hardware defect and exchanged it.
Same thing happened with the replacement laptop. After deleting every trace of NordVPN and restarting, the WiFi came back. Switched to CyberVPN and everything works fine now. Cancelled my NordVPN subscription immediately. Feel bad for the Geek Squad who couldn't figure it out on my first laptop.
Hey everyone, I'm working on developing a new VPN solution and I'm interested in understanding what users actually want from their VPN provider. What are the main problems you're experiencing with the VPN services you use now? Are there specific features missing that would make you switch? What do you think VPN companies are getting wrong?
I'm curious about everything, whether it's connection stability, server locations, customer support, pricing models, ease of use, or security features. Any honest feedback would be incredibly helpful. I really appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective.
My VPN has been randomly disconnecting during important work video calls and it's costing me credibility with my team. Every time it drops, I lose connection for a few minutes and have to reconnect. This is happening multiple times a day now. I've tried different servers but the problem persists. Is this a common issue or is my VPN provider just unreliable?
Hi everyone. I was recently looking into ExpressVPN because it seems to have a very affordable price compared to other providers, but I noticed there are absolutely no reviews available online. I searched on Google, Trustpilot, and even Reddit and couldn't find much information about this company.
Does anyone here have any experience with this specific provider? I'm mainly concerned about speed, reliability, and whether they actually keep their no-logs policy. Could someone give me a quick two or three-line review on the spot? I'm trying to decide if it's worth the risk or if I should stick with more established VPN providers.
Hi, I have a paid subscription with a VPN and Netflix. Recently when trying to watch The Crown on Netflix, I get blocked whenever the VPN is on, regardless of which country I'm connected to. The Netflix website has this message: "Your device is connected to the Internet using a VPN or proxy service. Please disable it and try again. For more help, go to netflix.com/vpn."
Any way around this? Is it a known issue? I'm not even trying to watch content from other regions, just want to not have to turn off my VPN whenever I'm streaming a show I pay to decide they don't like it.
Hi all, I'm currently based in Singapore and work remotely for an Australian company. I'm considering relocating to Japan for a longer period and need to maintain an Australia IP/location from there. I need a router-level VPN that routes all traffic through Australia so my devices appear to be connecting from there. I also need to connect to my employer's VPN on top of this and keep it stable for daily work, video calls, and Zoom meetings.
What type of setup would you recommend? Travel router, dedicated VPN router, self-hosted VPN, or something else? Has anyone successfully used an Australia-based home router as an endpoint while living abroad? Are there any issues running a company VPN on top of a router VPN? I'm not trying to bypass security or do anything illegal. Just looking for advice from people with experience running this kind of setup. Any recommendations would help!
I've been using ExpressVPN for about 3 years and was pretty satisfied with it. But today something weird happened. I got logged out of my account and when I tried to log back in, I got an error message saying my IP was blocked. I reached out to their support team asking them to help unblock my account, but they basically refused to do anything about it.
They said they can't help with IP blocks and that I'd need to contact someone else, but nobody's getting back to me. I'm frustrated because I'm a paying customer and they're just blocking me without any explanation. The only workaround I found was using my phone's mobile hotspot to cancel my subscription, but this is ridiculous.
Hello everyone, I'm currently living in Mexico and I'm trying to subscribe to a paid streaming service that's only available in the UK. I have a VPN and can access the free content, but when I try to subscribe to their premium plan, the payment keeps getting rejected.
I want to sign up for this service called StreamBox Pro, but their terms say they only accept UK residents and my payment methods aren't going through. I've tried using my credit card and digital payment apps, but nothing works. Can anyone help me figure out a solution? I couldn't find any gift cards for StreamBox Pro either, so I'm stuck.
I've been getting throttled by my ISP whenever I'm gaming online and I'm pretty sure they're monitoring my traffic. I want to use a VPN to keep my gaming sessions private, but I'm worried about finding one that won't make my connection even slower or cause lag spikes during matches.
I used a free VPN before and it was terrible for gaming, so I'm looking for something that actually maintains decent speeds. Does anyone have experience with residential VPNs that work well for gaming without getting detected or causing connection issues?
