Do I realistically have a shot at UAlberta’s course-based MEd Educational Psychology (Counselling Psychology)?

Hi everyone! I’m an international applicant from the Philippines planning to apply to the course-based MEd in Educational Psychology (Counselling Psychology area) at the University of Alberta, and I wanted to ask honestly if my profile sounds competitive enough for admission 😭

My background:

  • Fresh graduate (February 2026)
  • AB Psychology graduate from a top university in the philippines
  • Graduated Cum Laude
  • CGPA: 3.578/4.00
  • Our psych program was very research-heavy, so we had multiple research subjects and psych test construction/psychometrics-related coursework
  • I volunteered to tutor kids who are having a hard time reading once
  • Org leadership + event organizing experience
  • Interested in counselling, student development, and educational support
  • Planning to apply to the course-based route (not thesis-based)

For anyone familiar with the program:

  • How competitive is the program realistically?
  • Is my GPA competitive enough?
  • Any advice on strengthening my application?

Would really appreciate any honest advice or experiences from current/past students. Thank you so much!
