I'm leaving for college soon, and I've been stuck on this for a long time. I need some unbiased advice.
I love a girl. She was diagnosed with amenorrhea in 2024, although we knew something wasn't right since 2022 (she did told me back then NO PERIODS she was almost 14) . The doctors confirmed that having biological children in the future may not be possible. She was comfortable enough to tell me about it, and it has never changed how I feel about her.
She dated someone else from 2023–24. Things between us got complicated partly because of both of us. During 11th grade (2024), we became very close emotionally. She eventually pulled away because of her condition and kept telling me that I deserve someone who can give me kids like wtf
There's also family pressure involved. One of her distant relatives (it's a very extended family connection) was jokingly paired with her by their families. He later proposed, and she said yes. I still don't know whether she was serious or just going along with things at the time.
Back then, I tried convincing her that I didn't care about her amenorrhea. She asked if we could just stay friends, and I said no because I knew I wanted more.
Around Teachers' Day in 12th grade, we started talking again. The day before Teachers' Day, we made out at her place after almost a year of barely talking. We never discussed why it happened, what it meant, or where things were going afterward.
I know she cares about us. Her biggest fear has always been her family. The distant relative also gives her a sense of security because her family would never question that marriage if she chose it.
I'm not obsessively attached to her, but I know I love her. There was a time when just seeing her would make me feel her presence so intensely that I'd notice her breathing when she was nearby. After we reconnected, that feeling came back for a few days. It doesn't happen anymore, but my feelings haven't changed.
Now I'm leaving for college, and I'm stuck between two choices:
try one last time to convince her that I'm okay with everything and that we can figure things out together.
Disappear completely and let her live the life she feels is safest and easiest for her.
Would trying again be selfish if she's mainly afraid of disappointing her family? Or is walking away the more loving thing to do?
I'd appreciate any nice advice
i did use AI to reframe it.
