Found this for $1 at my local flea market. I was so excited until I looked at the back and everything was missing. Can it be saved? Can I put a cheap miyota movement into it. I’m in love with the dial. I don’t even care if the calendar works lol what can I do guys? Any help will be greatly appreciated
I was wandering through a local antique shop when I spotted a plastic bag full of random watches and loose watch bands. Buried in the pile was a Seiko Sportsmatic (6619-8060). The whole bag was only $17, so I figured I’d take a chance.
As I walked around the store, I noticed the Seiko was actually running. I kept checking it while I shopped for about 30 minutes, and not only was it still ticking, it seemed to be keeping good time. At that point I decided it was coming home with me.
When I got home, I gave it a light cleaning. The crystal is completely cracked and scratches, so it definitely isn’t winning any beauty contests, but one of the watch bands that came in the bag fit it perfectly. I threw it on and even wore it out to dinner that night.
This morning I walked into the kitchen expecting to find it stopped, but it was still running…and it was still on time. I honestly couldn’t believe it. A 50+ year old watch sitting in a bag of junk, and it’s still doing its job.
Now I’m wondering what to do next. Is replacing the crystal on a 6619-8060 something that’s reasonably easy to do yourself, or is it better left to a watchmaker? I’d love to get this old Sportsmatic looking presentable again.
He was asking $60 for it and I kinda regret passing on it. What you guys think? It was running but who know how well it keeps time.

Bought it for $1 at garage sale. I hung it up right away because it looks cool. Just wondering who the artist is or where it’s from. There is nothing in the back of just the small signature in the front.

Found this for $1 and I love it. Has one spot that keeps replaying and at the end has a pop that won’t let it finish lol besides that I love this album. Hopefully I find a better condition. But check this out guys
