Dutchie Update

Here is sweet sadie girl at just over 6 months old now! Shes all the sugar and spicy I didn't know I needed.

I have started PSA with her (start is a strong word). Her OB is mediocre at best but she does like biting the wedge and playing with the toys. Im not rushing anything on this front.

In this process I am realizing my handler skills are shit lol. Does anyone have any suggested courses on handling? Body movements etc. I am familiar with STSK9 - just curious if theres more materials!

Thanks for the suggestions!!

Should I be worried

Hello,

Hoping someone can help me decide if I need to go to emergency with my puppy or if I can wait until my regular vet can see her (probably tomorrow)

She ate at 10:30 last night and woke me up by vomiting at 5:15 am. She then went outside and pooped (normal) and her energy levels are fine/normal. Tummy feels normal and theres no discomfort when I touch it. She threw up again a smaller amount 20 minutes later. She did this weird retch or cough thing (like something was stuck in her throat) twice after the second vomit and then went back to normal. She had a bit of water. Seems to be staying down. I have not fed her anything.

Shes a 5.5 month old dutch shepherd puppy. The only thing out of the ordinary was she got her mouth on some goose poop yesterday - it was a small chunk but went down the hatch nonetheless. Its currently 6 am. Were in Sask, Canada.

Do i need to call my vet and get a same day appointment or can i just monitor at home? Do I need to go to emergency right now?

Does the screaming stop

Im sure this will bring a lot of judgement... but I'm going to discuss it anyway because I feel like I might lose my mind ! !

17 week old female puppy. I have had her for 4 weeks so I know we're still
learning and adjusting to each other. She is not my first dog, but she is my first dutch shepherd. My first dog is 3, belgian mal mix (rescue). We found her around the same age we got the dutch shepherd puppy (13 weeks).

I know every dog is different and I cant have the same expectations but this dutch shepherd screaming in her crate is something I was fortunate enough to not experience with my first dog.

Every night she goes pee at 11 and then goes to bed in the crate. Sometimes she protests but never more than 7 minutes (yes, I timed it). Every morning at 4:30 the screaming starts. I understand its my own fault because the first time she started at 4:30 I panicked and flew out of bed to take her outside thinking she needed to potty (and I waited for her to stop crying before I let her out). The last 4 days Ive been trying to ignore her because when we go out, she plays with sticks and runs around (so she does not need to potty that bad, IMO).

Today, she screamed from 4:30-5:30. I finally got up (after waiting for her to be quiet) and she ran around outside for 20 mins before she peed. Im just appalled. My first dog never made a peep in the crate from day 1 (I know I probably got very lucky with that).

Im sure there are people who will tell me, this is what you signed up for; dogs do this why didn't you research etc. and I expected protesting in the crate but by week 4 I did hope to see some improvement and thus far there has been none.

The crate is in a different room from us. During the day she goes in with little protesting. I guess my question is what am I doing wrong? Or do I need to just suck up and expect this for the next little while?

I am working with a trainer and have resources to help me but when I brought this up they indicated dutchies have fomo and to lower my expectations so I thought I would ask the broader community to see if there is something im missing

So sorry for the long winded post. Im probably overtired and have puppy blues and making a problem out of very normal behaviour but here we are🥹
