Equity research report tools

hi all, I am just wondering what are the different tools that you use to write and modify your research report! I am specifically looking for tools that you use for writing rather than the research itself. (Cause I believe different people use different methods) I am trying to write my first research report and I would like to know if there is a universally accepted template/formats or is it more flexible to the researcher‘s choice!

any help would be appreciated!

Refferal needed

Hi all, hope you are doing good

I graduated with a mechanical engineering degree in 2025. In my 4th year I realized that I wanted to understand how businesses work and how to analyse them, instead of building gears. Upon graduation, I registered for CFA level 1 in May 2026 and cleared it.

I have mostly learned through trial and error. I have tried intraday trading, options, swing trading. Eventually I realized I needed to understand businesses fundamentally, rather than chase price moves. That's when I shifted to value investing. Now, I believe the price tends to move towards the fundamental value of a business in the long run.

I am certified in both NISM 8 (Derivatives) and NISM 15 (Research analyst) So, I picked up a company that I believe to be in one of India's fastest-growing sectors - Waaree Energies and started reading publicly available reports. Side by side, I have taken wall street prep (WSP) courses on how to build a 3-statement model

I am looking into Equity research and asset management roles and I am open to relocate, If your firm is hiring interns or freshers, or if you know someone who is, I'd sincerely appreciate a referral or any guidance.

Thank you

CFA L2

Hi all, Congratulations to all who have cleared your examination.

And to those who haven't, dw. Don't lose heart. Take a week or two for yourself. Sit with family and friends. Get back to it. You got it.

I have just cleared my CFA L1 and I am planning to give my CFA L2 in May 2027.

Previously I had used Mark meldrum(Instructor led) and it was pretty good. But I was wondering if it's really required cause I feel I can do it with self study too. Now I heard CFA L2 is a LOT harder than L1.

So to those who have cleared CFA L2,

  1. Did you use a prep provider like Mark Meldrum, Kaplan, etc., or did you self-study?

  2. Looking back, what would you do differently? How would you structure the next 10 months of preparation?

3.Any topics I should start early or pay extra attention to?

I'd really appreciate any advice or study plans that worked for you. Thanks in advance!

Equity Research & Asset Management — Open to Coffee Chats in Bangalore

Hi everyone,

I recently appeared for CFA Level 1 (May 2026) and have been spending a lot of time exploring investing, equity research, valuation, and financial modeling. I’m currently working on an equity research write-up on Waaree Energies and trying to learn more about the industry from people actually working in the space.

I’ll be in Bangalore from Tuesday afternoon (26th May) to Friday afternoon and thought I’d put this out here — if anyone working in equity research, asset management, investing, VC, or related areas is open to catching up for a quick coffee/chat sometime during the week, I’d genuinely appreciate the opportunity to hear about your experience and perspective on the industry.

Feel free to dm me. Happy to work around your schedule. Thanks!
