E-Bike Accident

I just witnessed an e-bike accident today at Courtland & Stirling. I stopped to help, but there were already a few people assisting the man. One woman was on the phone with 911 and had taken charge of communicating with the operator, although she did not put the call on speakerphone.

A young woman then arrived and explained that she had Standard First Aid and CPR training. She was very fast, calm, and efficient, you could clearly see that she knew what she was doing. Unfortunately, the older woman on the phone with 911 seemed overwhelmed and was not really listening to her, even though everything the young woman said was backed up by the 911 operator. At one point, the older woman even wanted to perform CPR on the man while he was still breathing. The young woman had to be very firm in telling her that CPR was not necessary.

Please, if someone tells you they are trained in First Aid/CPR, listen to them and follow instructions. In emergencies, staying calm, communicating, and working together is extremely important.

I truly hope the man is doing well. And please, e-bikes can be very dangerous. Be extra careful if you have one.

Stay safe, everyone.🙏

Hi everyone,

My son is in Grade 9 in secondary school and he is having such a great experience this year. Honestly, all of his teachers have been amazing, from his music teacher to guidance. Such a supportive group.

I would really like to do something nice to thank his high school teachers during the last week of school, but I am not sure what they actually appreciate. I imagine it might be different than elementary.

For those of you who are teachers, or parents who have done this before, what would you suggest?

My budget is not huge, around 40 to 50 dollars per teacher, but I would love to make it meaningful.

Thank you so much for any ideas.
