Pan Borneo highway near Monsopiad Cultural Village

Just sharing a thought.

I see people jogging every early morning and/or evening di sana. Kinda makes me think that Penampang needs a park/recreational area (besides stadium, and alternatives to Bukit Padang and Perdana Park) than another shoplot complex or shopping mall.

You don't have to be Sabahan to care about Sabah.

You just have to be willing to listen before judging the anger. Understand the history, see the imbalance, and stand for what is right.

Sabah Day

Sabah can remember our own constitutional journey without apologising for it, and without routing it back through Malaysia every time to make it acceptable. Sabah was never a blank page.

Celebrating Sabah Day out loud doesn't make us less Malaysian.

Malaysia Map accuracy

Semenanjung Malaysia ≈131,600 km²
Sabah + Sarawak ≈198,270 km²

Sabah ≈74,100 km²
Sarawak ≈124,170 km²

Maps have long distorted how we perceive the world. The Mercator projection shrinks equatorial regions like Borneo, while our education and political discourse often shrink Sabah and Sarawak’s place in the national imagination. East Malaysia isn’t the “small side” of the country. Sabah and Sarawak make up around 60% of Malaysia’s land area.

Malaysia IS NOT Tanah Melayu.

Edit: My main point is about the map. But the Tanah Melayu part is also another topic.

Sabahan surnames

Sabah is incredibly diverse, and many families today are already ethnically mixed. On top of that, even within families that aren’t mixed, it’s not uncommon for children not to carry the father’s surname, so the surname line effectively ends with that generation.

Personally, I can see the value of surnames. They make it easier to trace family lineage, especially among communities like the natives where genealogy and knowing your family roots can be meaningful. At the same time, I also think preserving family history doesn’t necessarily depend on surnames alone as it can be passed down through family records, stories, and education.

Do you think surnames are important in Sabah? Is it a big deal if a family chooses not to continue using the father’s surname, or is it just a personal preference?

Lavender marriage?

25F. Just wanted to know if anyone here is in a lavender marriage or knows anyone who is in one.

How did you work things out with your partner? What about kids? Living arrangements?

Should someone who is already an MP be allowed to serve as an ADUN at the same time? (And vice versa?)

Both are already full-time jobs with different responsibilities. If one person is doing both, are they really able to give each role the attention it deserves?

I understand the argument that it improves coordination between the federal and state governments, but it also concentrates power in fewer politicians and limits opportunities for new leaders to step up. Maybe it doesn’t have to be constitutionally prohibited, but logically and morally, shouldn’t we expect politicians to dedicate themselves to one mandate at a time?

This seems especially common in Sabah. Curious what everyone else thinks.

I’m referring to holding both positions simultaneously, not serving as an MP in one term and an ADUN in another.

To those who voted the CM's party last PRU DU

What made you vote for them again? I genuinely want to know what I'm missing from the 5 years of their first term. And if whatever good they did, does that outweighs the scandals that have been going around?

Height as a woman

I'm a non-Muslim Sabahan in my mid-20s, standing at 172cm. I find it difficult to find a (single) guy who is taller than me. I have dated guys who are the same height and even shorter than me. It's alright and I did enjoy the bond while they lasted. But I was just wondering if I can ever feel "small" in a relationship.

I prefer to date fellow Borneans (Sabah and/or Sarawak).

I'm currently doing my pupillage and planning to do my Masters after.

Hello, fellow Borneans!

Hi, I’m a Sabahan lady in my mid-20s and apparently Sarawakians are very much my type. (Or maybe I just want a reason to visit Kuching more often other than for the food). 😂

I love visiting Kuching and thought it might be nice to get to know some people from there. Keeping my identity vague for now because I’m pretty sure a few friends are on this subreddit.

If you’re from Kuching, feel free to message me!
