Sync 3 conversion pinout

So, I have a Sync 1 to Sync 3 conversion. Everything works except the Sony bezel controls.

I bought programming from Brian and it looks good on his end. He said typically the controls work without programming, but none of the buttons or volume knob works for me.

I tried to do this conversion on the cheap, thus I have a cheapo harness and a junkyard Sony bezel. For the harness, I verified that all the wires have continuity. The only thing I don't know is if they are pinned out correctly.

Even doing this "cheap" it has still been quite the financial sinkhole. Can anyone verify if this harness is wired correctly? The last thing I need right now is to sink more money into this project, and with my luck it would still not work.

Multiple aspect ratios in films

So, movies that use different aspect ratios during the film are hard for me to enjoy.

I have a 21:9 monitor that I watch on, so say there's 16:9 scenes. I get that it doesn't fill my screen and I have black bars on the sides. But then there's scenes in the same film that are 21:9 and would normally fill my screen, but now those scenes feel miniscule with black bars on all 4 sides to squeeze it down to fit in the same width space as the 16:9 content.

Is there anything I can do to make each aspect ratio fill as much as possible without excessive bars?
