In reality gender norms and stereotypes still exists in most parts of the world and kid's grow up learning it through peers or simply just observing their environment and learning how men and women are expected to behave.

They then possibly try to subconsciously emulate these behaviors to be perceived as the sex they want to be perceived as, they don't have the intellectual or emotional maturity to communicate or articulate these feelings (mostly cause they aren't educated on the topic because hur dur they are teaching woke at school's now).

So it's important to ask them, on why they behave this way.
